Per Dandy Don

Miles gave credit to Keiland Williams for gaining over 100 yards rushing in the homecoming win and said that Jarrett Lee played well and made good decisions.

What game was CLM watching? Does he need Lasik surgery?

i know, right! i would much rather him say over the radio to all the rantards that he blew it! man, he should have mentioned those near-picks and talk about how much it would have sucked! he doesn't need to be supporting our players like that, man! i know exactly what you mean!

The way Miles talks about his players or, in some cases, doesn't talk about them is a reason kids want to play for him.

Miles would be a great politician considering how much bullshite he spouts out. That radio show is a joke.

Which is why I don't bother listening and haven't for a few years now.

He doesn't have to say that Lee sucked but to go out of his way to say that he played well just doesn't make sense

From the same source, please explain what this means as it is completely devoid of realism:

quote:

"Tom called and said that LSU's offensive line was near the top in the nation in allowing quarterback sacks and the defensive line was near the bottom in recording sacks. Miles said the offensive line would have played much better if the running game had been better earlier in the season, and said the defensive line was playing outstanding football."

It means that if you could have an effective running game and not forced into passing situations, you could avoid the defense teeing off on the passer. Football 101.

Then it means that he feels the D Line has played well.

It bothers me so much that he never seems to take accountability or just has really convinced himself that these issues dont exist.

There's a difference between trashing players and taking some accountability sometimes. Every time Les opens his mouth I get sick. I remember a few years ago, a guy called in and asked about how our punting game went from one of the best in the nation to one of the worst with the same punter. Miles started talking about general special teams BS before talking about how the punt returners were performing well. I can't stand listening to him but I can't help it for the same reason

And this has nothing to do with the O-line.

You completely missed the sarcasm. The team can't have an effective running game without a good run blocking offensive line and effective passing game, not vice versa. And the D line has been anemic in generating negative plays via TFL and sacks.

CLM has probably made a promise to his player to never speak negatively about them in public.

Hope he's giving them pure hell at practice.

I don't mind when he gives a 'politically correct' statement that says someone didn't perform well ( ex. room for improvement, work in progress, etc ) but to blatantly lie or worse - really believe that the player performed well - disgusts me. Man, I jumped on the Miles bandwagon pretty hard, but the way he is handling things this season makes me want to jump out of a moving car.

Please tell me you don't honestly believe this. It's called "coach speak", it's why they invented the frickin' term. After 5 years you would think that people would understand that Miles' does not throw players under the bus, no matter how bad that person performed. It's not going to happen. 99% of coaches, college or pro, do the exact same f'n thing.

Have any of you heard Les Miles throw anyone under the bus? That was not an exact transcript of what the coach said. I listened to the show and didn't come away with the idea that Les was praising his play.

It would seem to me the running game would be much better if the offensive line play would have been better. The play of the offensive line determines your running game not vice versa. Miles might try inserting Lonergan, Blackwell & Hurst for some of the present starters who seem to not be able to block anyone on running plays. The only success we have had running was when they were in the game.
