I just feel if you have a contract you should honor it i dont care how long he has been here.
what part of his contract did he break?

for all the shite i give les i gotta give him props for managing to get a raise after a 3 loss season and a loss in the chicken sandwich bowl.
Being that this past season was better than or equal to all of Saban's seasons here other than one, I can't blame them for giving him a raise.

Yep, a raise isn't a reward, it's to keep someone employed. Powers at LSU obviously feel it would take more to replace him with an equal or better candidate. You don't pay people (unless they are in sales) as a reward, you pay them so you don't have to replace them.

Miles is going to be on SVP & Russillo too

no offense, Roger....but this makes no sense whatsoever. coaches are given raises as rewards all the time. so are players at the professional level.

Any thread now bout CLM will inevitably end up with bitching & whining bout what happened with the Ark. offer ( NOTE: they offered, CLM did not either initiate or propose a counter offer). As for loyalty: Little Nicky has changed jobs more than any other former LSU coach, but the anti CLM's crowd never brings that up. And he left each time for more $$$$$$. I'll take CLM's brand of loyalty over Little Nicky's and many other HC around the country.

Loyalty osn't a totally dead issue. There are a few high profile coaches that seemed to have settled in for the durtion of their careers. People like Stoops for example aren't going anywhere unless pushed.

So which part did he break again? I don't recall him breaking his contract.

Schools wouldn't pay coaches a dime more if they could keep them at their present salary.
Incentives are rewards. Salary is enough to keep you without hiring someone else. Miles wasn't being rewarded for a 10-3 season. He was being paid to keep him happy at LSU so he wouldn't have to be replaced. That's...how the business world operates.

thats why they have it put into their contract

I believe if you honor a contract that you will be rewarded for it in the end

Miles makes replacement value, not a reward based on some mythical number.

Do you realize how many coaches get fired before their contract ends?

Unfortunately that isn't how the business works. You take advantage of your present value. A coach is only as good as his present season.

Not really. He had some incentives added following 2011, which I doubt were met this year.
No he didnt he had just an extension. He is still the 5th paid coach, he didnt move up. I dont know if its happened but this whole contract still has to be voted on by the board. So yall act like he dooped Alleva when several others still have to approve it.

he got a raise for winning 13 games, another SEC West title, and another SEC championship. some of you really have a hard time understanding this.
Meh. I understand that part. What I dont understand is why it took almost a year. It just happen to pop up right after this Arky deal? Something is fishy. Look at Sumlin, Freeze ( I think he's getting a raise, and any other coach. They get raises not long after what they accomplish. They don't wait a year. The Arky deal deffinently pushed things.

LSU football Coach les Miles will get an increase in the incentives portion of his contract if the Board of Supervisors approves the change at its meeting Friday.
Miles's $3.751 million salary will not be affected, but he will get an unspecified increase for meeting certain post season and academic achievement goals, according to a Board of Supervisors press release.
If LSU wins the BCS national title, Miles will get no less than the highest paid coach in the SEC, plus $1,000. Miles' buyout also took a major bump. If he is fired without cause, the university will owe him $18.7 million in the first year, up from the current $11.2 million.
