Les Miles: I am embarrassed for becoming a negatiger, if even for a brief time, in the minutes following the Old Miss debacle ... I mean, that was SO badly handled, obviously. But when you look at Miles' record over 5 yrs -- 50-14 ... I mean, that's an average of 10 wins a year over a 5 year period. That's unprecedented in LSU history. Win the bowl game and it's another 10 win season.

Jordan Jefferson: I am mystified by the criticism of him. He completes a high percentage of his passes, runs well, and has led last minute scoring drives ag. Georgia and now Arkansas ... compare him to any other LSU QB at this stage of his career, and he fares very well in the comparison.

I think it's time for people to just STFU ... if they're a fan, then be a fan and support the team ... go to the games, yell, stay in your seat for the entire game. (I could NOT believe people left the Ark. game w/ 3 minutes left. Especially the east sideline seats ... who the f$(k ARE those wussies?

He's 51-14

And you're right - it's never been done before.

I don't mind people bitching sometimes cause I bitch too, but the bitching over a team who has in fact improved results/record wise is confusing to say the least.

Ok....some didn't like last yr...that I get, but we have a team that improved to a 3rd place finish in the SEC, has a chance of a 10 win yr, and a top 10 finish. After 08, what in the hell is there to bitch bout in that???

Which might be relevant, except that he's winning games at a rate greater than any LSU coach in history.

Regardless of what happens in Orlando, Miles can't exceed 3 losses per year. Mac and Saban lost just over 3 games per year (Mac at about 3.27 losses per year, and Saban at exactly 3.2 losses per year - nobody else is even close.)

(ETA - Biff Jones was 20-5-6 over 3 seasons, and Arnsparger only lost 8 games over 3 seasons, but I generally limit this to coaches with 4 or more seasons.)

Bernie Moore averaged exactly 3 losses per year over 13 seasons, but that was against only 83 wins and 6 draws, but for completeness I include him here.

You managed to put into words what I could not.

I think next year will be a payoff year.

Boy, now that's a pass you wish you had back...

Why?

What bothers me most about Jefferson is THAT face he makes after certain plays. The one he makes like after the Arkansas sack on the first play of the last drive that sent us into OT. The same face I've seen him make when gets tackled, he sits up....and just keeps sitting there with his hands on his knees. It's a pissed, what am I doing here face. anybody know "the face" I'm talking about?

Jefferson can not read defenses nor can he find alternate receivers. He holds the ball too long because he zeroes in on his primary receiver and waits for him to get open.

Yeah, I do. The guy just doesn't show much emotion, whether he just threw a TD, an INT or got his bell rung. He's not that animated when you talk to him in person (even on camera or just walking around on campus). He's a nice guy and pretty composed for a 19-yr.-old, imo.

What I was referring to in my post was the inevitable statistical comparisons that threaten that fine line between apples vs. apples and going off into comparing JJ's stats w/LSU QBs from the 1920s.

Kinda like this one?

Or maybe this one?

...except sitting on the turf?

In all actuality, I do know exactly what you are talking about, but I think the kid's got pretty much that same intense look on his face at all times except for when celebrating a score.

He's young and knows he needs to be a leader - carry himself accordingly in the huddle, etc... When a play doesn't go well - I think he takes a moment to shake it off and regroup (refocus) before looking to the signal caller and turning to his team.

My impression of Jefferson is he's fiercely competitive and still learning what his role is. Not his position, but his role. There are countless new ways things can go wrong out there on every down, and there may be an second or two before he picks himself up/dusts himself off where he tries to figure out what could have been done better (by coach, teammate or self).

I think that next season, that thing where "the game slows down for him" will have happened and "the look" will be far less frequent.

...He also doesn't throw many interceptions, has a weaker than our usual OL, Coaches that won't go with a huddle,...Oh yea HE"S 19 YEARS OLD! I expected 9-3 with losses to the teams we lost to, although we should have won the ol'Piss game. The only people that are upset are the unrealistic ones that thought this team with such young and inexperienced QB"s was going to win 11 or 12 games.
BTW: LSU was in every game with 2 losses to #1 and 2, and a give away to Ol'Piss. Not to shabby,IMHO.

We can leave the game any time we feel like it.

Hopefully things will be better next year.

Really. It matters. Especially from the QB. Go read the post game comments of P. Manning yesterday to the effect of we don't get down, we don't show emotion, we don't throw helmets, we put the series behind us and move on the next one. Check out R. Wayne's comments as well.

You can parse, literally, nothing from his facial expressions. It's not science, it's not art. It's projecting what you think is going on in his mind, which is quack theory at best.

"I don't like his facial expressions."

With fans like that, how's the guy ever gonna' do right?

I don't understand the criticism of JJ either. The kid will only get better.
