All very good coaches who are good enough that's it's too risky to fire them but all of which are a sneeze short of greatness.

I will take a sneeze short if it means SEC Championships and the occasional NC game.

So would all but a handful of programs

And therein lies the fundamental question we as a fan base have to ask ourselves. With the colossal talent we pull year in and year out, are we okay with really good but not quite good enough, or must we demand great?

I would agree that firing the best coach in program history is a risky move.

That question has been answered by the AD. We pay for it, and fans are asked to monetarily support it at that level, but dont expect it!

So if Stoops is Big Game Bob, does that mean Les is now Large Game Les?

Pump the brakes. Just because you do nothing but follow the LSU recruiting hype all year doesn't mean other teams don't pull in top talent.

they don't keep their jobs bc they are too risky to fire; they keep their jobs by keeping the money coming into the school. The powers that be at most schools are only concerned about the profit, not about championships.

With our closest competition pulling in the same exact talent? Even they may be on the outside looking in when it is all done.

Well you'll be flamed, but the comparison is only flawed insofar as two are MNC winning coaches (Miles also has 2x appearances total and Stoops has like 26), while Richt isn't.

They are three very good coaches who just come up short at times--often when it matters most. I think all three have solid philosophies with some glaring weaknesses (Les' weakness being that he believes the QB is just another cog in the wheel), they care about their boys, and they try to run good clean programs. All three schools would be retarded to consider firing them as well.

Between the three of them, they probably have 2 NCs left in them before retirement.

We can debate the fifty shades of "good" all night long and try to determine where exactly Les falls, but what can't be debated in my view is that our teams consistently fail to meet their full potential, regardless of talent level. In my view, they consistently come close to realizing it, but always leave a decent amount on the table. We consistently play worse than lesser teams who are better coached.

What were you expectations this year? Just curious if you saw an undefeated season or not.

Bama is an equal team, far from inferior.

The fact is for us to have a chance to beat Bama we have to play our game of the season, make few or zero major mistakes, hope Bama makes a few major mistakes, and typically be in Tiger Stadium.

For them to beat us, they have to play decently well.

In other words, it's always a heroic victory for us, whereas for them it's typically a hard fought but very statistically probable win.

And we often have more talent than they do.
