With reference to the recent suspensions, Les is changing the culture. No longer will he and his assistants put up with disciplinary, academic or other issues, there's way too much talent already in place and more coming in, so it's next man up.

Herron is a big disappointment, so much potential and so little discipline. He has prototypical NFL DE size so hopefully, he gets his act together but it doesn't look good. He could provide even more depth on the DL.

Dee Anderson may have seen some PT today, but not a whole lot. He too has to get his act together or he'll get passed up on the depth chart.

Savion Smith is a mystery. Seems like a great kid, but he also would not have seen much PT today.

Summer camp/practice appears to have been much more intense than past. It's unfortunate to lose Lacouture & Washington, but they are money in the bank for next year. Hopefully, Thompson heals up quickly to help with LB depth.

I like what Les & his staff are doing. It's about time he cracked down on this foolishness.

"No longer???" "It's about time???"

TM7, Jordan Jefferson, Spencer Ware...

ETA: PERRILLOUX (I knew I was forgetting another big one)

Miles has NEVER been one to hold back discipline when merited.

You have to admit that the players you referenced had plenty of chances to clean their acts up but just couldn't get it done.

I still believe one of the worst moves ever was allowing Jefferson to start over Lee during the 2011 season. I agree we needed Jefferson for depth, but we looked good with Lee and the team was behind him. That move ruined JL's confidence and he was never the same after that.

If you're going to discipline a player, start on day #1 and don't let it fester that's all I'm saying.

Except that Lee was garbage against bama when Jefferson came in.

Look I agree Lee did an amazing job til bama but if you think LSU beats Bama with Lee your nuts. Lee's confidence was broke against Bama

How do you know it doesn't start from day 1? Should a player be suspended a game no matter how small the infraction?

Hell sure hope they did worse than have a stolen gun and illegal drugs because that didn't even warrant a suspension

Not criticizing Les, just pointing out he appears to be less tolerant given the Herron, Anderson & Smith suspensions.

I have been on Les's bandwagon since he became head coach and continue to be.

My post was meant as a compliment, not a critique.

My memory is fuzzy but didn't Tharold Simon get suspended with Ware and Mathieu also? I seem to remember 3 players being out for the AU game.

You're correct, there was a little clique of players who let's just say strayed off path.

Let's see if they come back and play. Don't forget that Valentine was kicked out the team and has now been brought back.

you are implying that.....

1-the coaches have been "putting up" with breeches of discipline in the past

2-you believe in a "zero tolerance" hard arse approach to discipline.

you are wrong on both counts. these young men are still "kids" in a way and being a Nazi about discipline is a big mistake. the punishment should fit the crime and the aim of the punishment should be to teach.

I hope you either are not a father or if so you reevaluate your approach to discipline. sure, you need rules and you need to require your "charges" to be held accountable but to make every transgression a felony is a huge mistake.
