At the end of this season Les will be tied with Saban and DiNardo for the longest tenure of an LSU football HC since Cholly Mac. At the end of next season he will have the longest.

Unless LSU loses the next 5 games in a row, Les will also have the better record than Saban, and of course he has the better record than DiNardo either way.

Is this guy here to stay? Is this the long sought long term coach that LSU has been seeking for over 20 years?

Or can we expect either he'll leave us in the next 2-3 years or we'll get angry at him and fire him, and the cycle of going through coaches will start again?

I know you put a lot of thought into this post but it's time to stop this talk. Let's be happy to be a Tiger and if that time ever comes, we deal with it then.....and only then.

Les Miles is our Coach!

i think he's here to stay. there is no way LSU wins any less than 9 games this year in the regular season. with the schedule, inexperience at qb, and new defensive staff i think 9+ wins shows how good of a coach he is and LSU would be crazy to let him go.

I really think it depends on Michigan. One things for sure you couldn't fault him for returning to his alma mater. He's never tried to hide how he feels about Michigan.

3 things if that ever happened.
1). I will become a Michigan Fan (Unless they are playing LSU)

2). Please LSU don't call $abun

3). Using the bama method of bribery........Get Bob Stoops

Absolutely.

Does that extend forever? If he's been our coach for 15 years, say, and leaves us to go to Mich. the year before an NC quality team is expected to be fielded?

I don't think he leaves us. He had a shot at Michigan, which is presumably his "dream" job, and he for whatever reason stayed at LSU. I think it depends on how he finishes out this season and how he does compared to the expectations next season as far as if we start to get angry with him.

If Cholly Mac had been hired in 2004, do you think he would have been fired after his 5th season?

different times, but there would most definitely be talks about him being fired, right or wrong. tiger fans are now spoiled, and that comes with the territory of having Nick Saban and Les Miles and 2 national titles in this decade (imo).

As far as Miles being asked to leave LSU it would take a dramatic turn of events like finishing 7-5 this year and next and I really don't see that happening but if the Michigan job comes available again any time soon (1-3years) I think hes gonna take it. If he did not it would surely be his last chance to coach there.

Personally part of me would love to see him win another NC here than leave to Michigan. That would serve a lot of this fanbase right for never really accepting him following mighty midget.

Yes, as long as Miles keeps recruiting the way he has and keeps making quality hires (minus the Malvetto thing). I know some LSU fans may find it troubling, but he will stay.

LSU has to show they can keep faith in a coach even when things go wrong like last year. If Miles keeps doing what he's been doing the past 4 years, we will eventually win another SEC title and maybe even another National Title.
