Les played the game using Arkansas and Michigan to get unwarranted raises. It is a business.

Also, I have a feeling he was given his one last year this year. After the embarrassing bowl defeats and sec play. Evidenced by Chavis not getting a buyout and us getting Steele.

Les was handled with class. It is just a shame none of us work for the athletic department to see it. It isn't like Aleva would announce "hey this is les's last chance!!" At the end of last season.

You're right.. I've gotten to know him on a personal level a little bit. I just feel happy and sad.

I'm ready to see what someone can do since we are recruiting like crazy, and utilizing this talent.

But yes, I do like the dude as a person.
I wish he could become AD.

So you would want Les to coach a meaningless 1 more bowl game to him for his sake?

Sacrifice the opportunity for a new coach to acclimate and get a head start on next year's team?

Stupid

Unfortunately I have had to fire many people who were not meeting expectations. There are two basic ways, with respect to the person and without respect. How this is done says a lot about the organization.

If people think as this information being leaked (irregardless of who is leaking it) is respectful then I hope you never get that responsibility of firing someone. Someone being fired should never be a joyful time. It has nothing to do with money, but more telling someone they are not good enough.

If by watching this whole $hit show doesn't make you a little disgusted, well that sucks for you.

And this has nothing to do if Les deserves to continue to be the coach or not. If you are not getting the job done then it's time to move on.

Wat? You think the new coach should come in, after 3-4 weeks or whatever and coach the team???

Talk about really stupid

The manner in which it's going down now. Not coaching the bowl game, and not going out being disrespected by LSU admin.

Yea he will be laughing alllllll the way to the bank with LSU's money. He'll be fine. You sentimental panty-waists are too much.

The dude has done so much for LSU. He's represented us with extreme character, and a damn strong football team. While I agree it's time for a change, he deserves much more than this shite show. Here's to a great 11 years, and good luck to you in the future. I'll miss your crazy arse.

You're absolutely right. He doesn't deserve to get $15,000,000 for being fired.

Obviously, a lot of y'all don't understand how a business works. Les is a coach. He gets paid, just like any one else, to do a job. If you do your job good, you get to keep your job. If you do your job bad, you lose your job. The big difference is that Les will continue to get paid, even after he is let go. I know plenty great people who got let go from jobs that they had for 20 yrs, and it wasn't necessarily b/c they did a bad job, and guess what, they didn't he paid a nickel more, once they were gone. So don't feel sorry for Les. Les is going to be just fine. If you want to feel bad for someone, go find that person who is just lost their job and has 3-4 kids to feed. Don't feel bad for someone who could buy out your family tree with pocket change.

Some good points here and I understand the demand for excellence and perfection in doing one's job. I would have lost my practice a long time ago, if I didn't get that. I, also, understand the desire for a change of pace. Just hate the way it is going down. I mean the guy is awesome. He won over a lot of die-hard Bama fans, including this one, for the man he is on and off the field. I'm not saying that because of his recent troubles with Saban/Bama, either. He's a great leader that is passionate about his players and LSU. He has had the misfortune of losing more underclassmen to the NFL of any other coach and is still competitive every year. I can tell you this....... I'd be a lot more afraid of Les with a competent OC (that has full autonomy) than I am of Jimbo.

Excellent post. Speaks to the heart of the situation and it does not matter which way you lean on the subject of him staying or going.

It's a business. Spend time in the corporate world and you will see Les has been treated very fairly. I'll miss the man but he is not LSU. In fact LSU made Les Miles , not the other way. I'm sure he will be fine.

Everyone is speculating and assuming it's a cluster but there has been no word on either side. I doubt it's the cluster ppl claim. I would bet Les knows and has been told.
