Last year, an undefeated Miss. State lost in Tuscaloosa and only dropped 3 spots

Mississippi State was ranked #1 at the time, and ultimately lost by 5 points.
However, the game wasn't nearly that close, as they trailed by 12 points with 3 minutes left in the game.
Baylor, Ohio State, and TCU all had one loss in week 11 last year, and yet when undefeated MSU lost in Tuscaloosa, they were still ranked ahead of all of those 1 loss teams in the subsequent week.
State's situation last year isn't terribly unlike our current situation - and, if anything, the LSU brand is a bit more respectable than Mississippi State's. If the committee ranks LSU no lower than 7th tonight, we could certainly have a chance to work our way into that 4th spot.

State had a great resume last year. We do not.
It is really simple.
And, LSU was dominated.

I think the problem for lsu is going to lie in the the Stanford/ND game. Assuming the winner of that one wins out, it's a "quality" win for an already highly ranked team.
If, hypothetically, Bama/Clemson/OSU win out (they'll be favored to) then I don't see 1 loss lsu jumping one loss Stanford/ND since the winner of that game will have a late season victory over a top 10 team. There's also a decent chance that a big 12 team finishes undefeated
Lsu needs to win out and cheer for mayhem, which certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Exactly.
And I have a weird feeling it's going to happen.

Ill also add that I think lsu needs to win out convincingly if they are to make it without an SECCG appearance. A flat performance against OM and Arkansas even in victory wouldn't be very good. We know aggy is fricked

Man, let it go. If LSU had been remotely competitive in the game Saturday you might have an argument. Sadly, we were squashed like bugs.

Right, but Alabama didn't distance themselves from them throughout the game like they did LSU. They did score late, but my gosh, I felt like we had lost 41-14 or something.

Sadly I agree. Not much of an argument with that.

We need Stanford to win and then lose another Pac 12 game or it will be pretty difficult to make it

I don't think a lot of people are really understanding just how badly LSU was dominated in this game.
