If he's NOT the father, then the story takes a dramatic turn in his favor and, hopefully, the focus is placed on finding whoever really did this.

I don't think him actually being or not being the father changes all that much. It's more about whether Collins believed he was the father

I dont mena to make light of the situation

BUT

If and when La'el is cleared he will likely become an Undrefted player that gets paid first round or at worse second round money.

Only during a Les Miles tenure could this happen.

Not drafted and still first round money….(If it happens)

how in the world would someone plan this and not think that something like this right before the draft would not cloud his draft stock?

Doesn't make any sense. Also, Collins is a very big man that will be noticed and remembered by anyone seeing him. Seems a real gamble for him to do it and if the shooting is gonna be hired out, why not have it done when he is out of town, just a few days later, being drafted on national TV???

Who knows what happened, but much of the way this came bout seems to point away from Collins. imo

I'm surprised no one has posted a link to this story on muckraker website TMZ.

... Collins -- who was a projected 1st round NFL draft pick before the double murder -- spoke with investigators and said he has witnesses and phone records that prove he was nowhere close to Brittney Mills on the night she was gunned down.

Our sources say La'el told cops he hadn't spoken with Brittney for several months -- when she first suggested that he could be the father of her child.

This came up on my Google News feed so: inb4 only idiots read TMZ

TBH at least a few years ago TMZ was beating everyone to stories so while they certainly cater to the lowest common denominator their information is often good.

Being 8.5 months pregnant, the baby was coming real soon. I wonder if his current gf has been questioned, as she had as much if not more motive.

This.

ETA: I don't think there's any chance he actually did it and I seriously doubt he was involved in the murder. I definitely understand the BRPD for wanting to ask him questions. I would also want to question the girlfriend.

Instead of fully cooperating and coming to visit the kid like a normal non-suspect possible father would, he acted like a complete clown and this is the part that disturbs me. It's probably a cultural thing, though.

I know he delayed coming in to talk to the police. I know he didn't attempt to see the baby.

Im assuming he is innocent so the only real question left is if he believed he may be the father or not. If he didn't then his inaction is justified- albeit stupid.

If he actually didn't believe the baby was his why would he visit it in the hospital. He hasn't been there during the pregnancy. He has 0 attachment to it from the sound of it. Do you visit random babies in the hospital on a regular basis?

His not believing it was his was a convent means of not involving yourself emotionally. Pretty shirty if you fathered a baby and have that mentality.

What I take from this is:

Collins was aware that Mills' child could be his months before the murders. And yet the day after this child was in Intensive Care in Baton Rouge, he was hanging out at the Pelicans/Warriors game...on the same day BRPD had unsuccessfully attempted to contact him. Agents "reached out to his agent and family." So his agent and family had an idea of what was going on while he was having a weekend trip in New Orleans??? Yet he attended the Pelicans game, never visited the child at the hospital in Baton Rouge that he knew could be his, and left for the NFL draft a couple of days later.

Ok, makes sense.

Nothing you said contradicted anything I said. It all depends on if he believed he may have been the father. If not then damn, he got screwed.

You said it disturbed you that he didn't visit the baby in the hospital.
