I think it's a bluff. It doesn't make any sense. It would be wiser to get into the league and start working towards that second contract, that's the payday anyway.

think a team would spend a 1st round pick on a guy who hasn't played football in a year?

Absolutely, LT is the hardest position to find at the NFL level, you cant make one and you cant plug in an athletic Guard, either you can play that position or you cant. That's always going to be a commodity, plus a year to get bigger and stronger and work with a position coach.

And he could stay at LSU and bang coeds.

You can't say this because he won't be in the draft next year. He'll be an unrestricted free agent.

He can have whatever contract he can negotiate as a unrestricted free agent next year. So basically, by going to Canada, he doesn't have to wait 3 years to get the "second contract."

i feel like this can't be true b/c otherwise a lot more people would intentionally do this.

No one does this because people like Collins get taken in the first round and make millions of dollars. People who go in rounds 4-7 would rather be in the NFL than Canada.

Let me rephrase, if he gets drafted and refuses to sign, he will go back into the draft (I think). If he goes undrafted, he will be an URFA after a year.

Smart move IMO. Saying if you don't dont draft him now you're missing out because he's innocent and will be drafted next year.

That is dumb.....
Risk an injury while not getting paid
No guarantee he will be drafted in the 1st 3 rounds
or he could get paid 6 figures this year and for the next few before cashing a big check

If he did this and he was cleared, wouldnt that clear the way for him to be signed as a free agent and make good money?

NFL teams can't offer UDFA anything more than a non-guaranteed minimum salary.

La'el should have hired Drew Rosenhaus. Dude is a PR machine and would have this handled.

Do we need to bring this to the OT detectives and dig up some info on his agent? This guy is just plain awful.

Didn't he sign with the Cash Money team? That was his first mistake. This amateur hour bullshite reminds me of the representation Ricky Williams had when he signed with the Saints.

I guess he will be in the 2016 Draft because no team in the NFL will "take a chance" on him given the current environment with a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick.
