Jimbo Fisher checks all the boxes for the LSU job. He spent six years combined in Baton Rouge under Nick Saban and Les Miles. He's worked at a strong power conference school where there was pressure to win. He won a national championship and also made last year's playoff bracket. He's an offensive minded coach, who often clashed with Les Miles' offensive conservatism in their two years together. He's a good character person. And he won't divide the fan base. He will be expensive and that might ultimate stop the move. He has a $5 million buyout. There is also the lingering question of why would he want to come to the SEC West when it's much easier to win an ACC conference title. Coaches love challenges and Fisher has always had his eye on LSU. He's been in Tallahassee nine years and as we know, 10 is about the limit. He won't have the opportunity next year if he passes.

Yes and it will happen soon after Saturday's game. Maybe Sunday but probably Monday. Stay low or you will be hit by assorted flying rumors. There is no turning back now and damage is being done to recruiting as I type these letters. The top QB recruit in the nation, Feleipe Franks, has decommitted but the good news is that Jimbo Fisher is recruiting him, too. It could end up package deal. Miles was hoping to get through one more year and there was talk of him possibly retiring after next season. But the team has been abysmal the last three weeks. it was going to cost a lot of money to cut him loose next year and the boosters decided to bite the solid gold bullet and pull the trigger now, before the coaching carousel starts.

I'll go with the overs and Jimbo Fisher. the problem is that LSU had better not miss with him like Texas did with Saban last season or the Tiger boosters will find themselves fighting over scraps with all the other teams looking for coaches. it's a long drop to the next available coach. There aren't many gettable big names like Jimbo Fisher and he's really not that gettable. LSU is going to have to dig him out with a lot of dough. He's got a $5 million buyout and he's going to have an annual salary bigger than that. Plus, the staff is going to be costly. There's no reason to get cheap at this point. LSU boosters are hoping to get a yes from him soon. The wild card is a possible NFL coach and the most likely name is Chip Kelly, but LSU might be a second choice to USC. Kelly apparently is having the same issues of control that made Saban leave the NFL after two seasons. Whoever it is, I expect it all to happen fast.

No chance of that happening. Les is done. Cam Cameron has been treated for cancer and his contract is up. Les would be a lame duck and what offensive coordinator worth his weight would want to be in that position? it's time for Les to go. As Steve Spurrier told us, when a coach gets to be around 10 years in the same place, it's time to go. The two sides get tired of each other. It's time.
