KJ Malone to Blocking TE?

The big loss on the O Line with Dillon Gordon isn't his pass catching, it's his blocking, by all accounts. Has any thought or talk been made about moving an O Lineman like KJ to TE for extra blocking? Other TEs seem more suited to pass catching... Thoughts?

Toby Weathersby did this against Florida. But no, they probably haven't thought about moving an OL to TE for blocking purposes.

Makes sense to me but what do I know? He's big and athletic

Miles will trust the TEs he has now but if one gets injured this week (especially Jeter), then LSU has 2 weeks to get someone else ready. Malone seems like as good a candidate as any

Why is everyone freaking out about the loss of Gordon? He's a good player but he's been out since the Auburn game and the offense hasn't suffered at all.

Dude... It's not a freak out to ask a question. Oh... wait... You're not my ex wife with a fake alias are you? Geez... Go get a tampax.

Fournette ONLY had 180 last week. He could have had 320 if Gordon would have played the whole game.

Not this shite again. He's played 1 and 1/2 games. Moreau and Jeter have filled in nicely and our run game hasn't missed a beat.

I disagree, Jeter catches the ball but he has missed several blocks this year and most have resulted in LF being tackled in the backfield.

Want to take a guess at how many of Fournette's 1202 yards were gained without Gordon?

Maybe the loss of Gordon will make the LSU coaches do something a little different with that position with the personnel you have. Might not be a bad thing.

I agree, Jeter's getting manhandled sometimes. We should (and will, I predict) move a lineman to TE. In fact, we already did it some against Florida. We'll do it a lot more against Bama.

We all know how the Rant hates the predictability of the offense. Wouldn't this be obvious that the TE was just going to block if it is a converted offensive lineman? At least, when Gordon was unfortunately lost for the season, he was breaking tendencies by catching a pass. If you constantly rotate out Jeter for Malone (or whomever) it would be pretty damned predictable. At least with Jeter there is some deception.
Now...on obvious needs for jumbo packages, by all means bring in the extra offensive lineman.

Maybe true, but it's still a loss. Gordon was wrecking the Florida defenders in the limited time he was able to play. Plus he actually had solid hands, so moving a linemen to TE isn't the same thing.

Malone is the back up LT, I do not think it would be a good idea to change his number and move him to TE. Wouldn't be bad to move another Olineman though.

Dillon offered some pass catching ability while being a good blocker.
But It is a huge difference maker when a guy that is coming in that is otherwise known as a blocker that can catch. It creates deception and more things to prepare for.
Even if, for only one game, say against Alabama or ole miss; Gordon has three catches in the first half....that opens doors for fournette to run and/or the Wrs which could be one or two more first downs that seals victory.....see last few bama games where we needed one more first down.
Granted that the other te's can do this but he was a starter before the injury.

Any OL that plays TE will have two different jerseys one with a TE# one with an OL#. You can change back and forth during a game.
