I've been posting this in the Baylor threads that are getting whacked, but I'll echo it here: When that woman retires from coaching I think she'd make an outstanding athletic director for LSU. She's from Louisiana, she has family ties to the program (did you know she's Kramer Robertson's mom???? I don't think that's ever been mentioned ever) and she's a ball buster and a winner. Just my thoughts.

Is being a successful women's basketball coach a prerequisite for being a great AD?

Kramer?

Being a good baseball coach seemed to be good enough for Skip.

Mad because we just hired a HC with virtually no experience short of an unsuccessful 3 year stint -----> wants to hire a woman who's never done anything aside from being a basketball coach her entire life to run all of our sports programs and athletic department because her son plays baseball for LSU

Do you people not think before you post? They don't teach you to negotiate multimillion dollar athletic contracts on the basketball court FYI, I know that being a great AD is as simple as "being a bulldog" but it's a little more complicated than that

I think Skip Bertman did slightly more for LSU baseball and the university than Kim Mulkey has done for Baylor. I could be wrong though.

One more thing, Skip did it for LSU - not a different university.

Such a stupid irrelevant comparison.

I'm not sure why you keep using Skip Bertman as evidence that your stupid idea would work out, Kramer. Why don't we just hire Mainieri for our AD since baseball coaches apparently always work out, by your logic? It's not like Skip Bertman did some ridiculously outstanding job anyway. He hired Smoke Leval, Paul Mainieri, Les Miles, and was responsible for the decline of our track and field program. Wow we need more of that! Let's just bring Skip back and forget about Kim!

Just because an unqualified Skip Bertman did a mediocre job doesn't mean that an unqualified Kim Mulkey would do the same or better.

Just about anybody is an upgrade over Alleva.

So being a good coach is a natural feeder into a position that is effectively a CEO of a $100M company? There seems to be a few steps missing...

He hired the best coach in LSU football history only to be followed by the most successful coach in LSU history, both of whom won national titles. And very clever with the whole Kramer thing, newb.

ETA: Skip didn't hire Saban. I stand corrected.

In hindsight, I think Bertman did a very good job.

I have a hunch that Mulkey would rock as AD.

She is certainly on potential alone about 5 notches better than the tool sack we have right now.

Goddamnit.

This should not automatically qualify people for positions in the athletic department. Hell, Joe Alleva should be fired because he let this thinking guide the Orgeron hire.

I wish I could see a positive outlook like you do on Bertman's time as AD

-Let Henry leave
-Made mediocre football hire
-Made a horrible baseball hire
-Did an absolute dreadful job with facility projects

He at least hired Chuck Weinsted and made LSU a fundraising machine, but other than that I have no idea what he did well

Yeah, I'm mainly talking about his fundraising and revenue aggression, which was needed, but not popular.

Les Miles was a pretty darned good hire considering when Saban left us in the calendar year.

So, you're not a Mainieri fan. I can understand that, but we do have a title from both of those hires.

I was never sure why Henry left, but I didn't like it. I assumed it was a $$$-to-importance difference of opinion between himself and Skip.
