Calipari said...."I saw some of our players that didnt want the game today. If you dont want the pressure, the ball when the game is on the line, the tough rebound, then I am gonna take you out. Tyler Ulis has the heart of a lion, and he wants the ball every time the game is on the line. Most of our players are like that."

That in a nutshell is our biggest problem. We missed Hornsby alot, because the rest of the team lacked what Calipari talked about-at least during the past 3 weeks.

We lost to Bama at home with him. this team was trending down way before Hornsby got hurt again.

there is an intangible in recruiting and it is the will to win.....how many of our players have that? Dale Brown wasnt the greatest on xs and os, but you didnt play for him without hustle and the will to win.

accountability, it starts and ends there. Now there has to be a standard system to be accountable to as well and that's where coaching acumen comes in.

But if you have no reliable standard of accountability, even that is compromised.

.
The inexplicable lack of intensity showed by some players at key times made me wonder about point fixing.

This game wasn't on the coaches. This game was on the players who shot 20% from the field and 45% from the line. They played a crappy game.

This team wasn't as talented as many claimed it to be and the coaching was never able to get it to play with any consistency.

No semblance of an offensive plan.

Nobody wants to rebound.

No leadership.

Can't shoot free throws.

No accountability.

Bad team chemistry.

Other than this, LSU had a pretty good team.

LSU had no shot without Hornsby. Coaching or not.

Yes, the players played crappy. But it's the coach,s responsibility to have them ready to play: physically and emotionally. It's what coaches do.

Sure, sometimes the shots don't fall and you can't blame the coach for that, but this game was far, far beyond that.

Yeah, the shots not falling had a lot to do with shot selection, no sense of purpose on offense and the culmination of a season where accountability among players went out the window and finally crashed down on us as inevitably is destined to happen when that lack of accountability becomes systemic.

That it got so bad as to have to call a shrink in says it's deeper than we just missed some shots.

Come on, man. The team won 24 hours earlier to get to this game. The players had a god awful performance and got their assess handed to them. I know its a easy cop-out to bash the coaching and sometimes it might be deserving, but please, this stink belongs on the players.

Sometimes? Try 80% of the time. This games wasn't decided by a poorly designed play or not calling a time out or coaching shite like that. I was decided by five guys on the court who were not able to get their head out of their arse.
