Have to think he would have won the award if the team didn't choke their way out of Omaha so quickly.

Garrett Stubbs drafted in the 8th round by the Astros. Kade Scivicque drafted in the 4th round by the Detroit Tigers.

His step-grandfather and former USC player Fred Shuey once played a minor league season with Bench.

MLB Draft Board had Kade ranked as the 1st best senior college catcher & 4th overall including juniors and Garrett Stubbs ranked 23rd.

Opponents were 46-73 against LSU, again don't know the exact number against Kade but I'm sure it's not far off from that

runners were 36/57 against Scivicque. still got jobbed though

Thanks for all the stats. They just further magnify the voter's error in not selecting Kade.

One fantastic season for Kade Scivicque. Best of luck in the pros!

Starting the season benched by CPM probably didn't help. Coach wanted Pap to beat him out so badly.

Kade had to dominate to win the job.

Kade had a great year and was certainly deserving of any award. I hope he does well in the pros.

He was never benched. Kade was catching 2 games and Pap would catch one. Pap needed to get some experience.

Far from being benched...

I'm shocked that he didn't win. Looking at the stats before I thought it was a done deal.

It is an award for the "Best Defensive Catcher", so the offensive stats should not play into the final decision.

It is an award for "the best catcher in the country." It does not specify the criteria, simply the best catcher. if it was for defense, Brade Cresse never would have sniffed the award

Reading some of the national publications you could tell there was a huge push for Stubbs. Not sure where or how it originated though.

Is this the guy who threw everyone out who tried to steal? one of the three finalist had a ridiculous rate of throw outs.

He hit well but wasn't even yhe best defensive catcher in the state. Jake Rogers threw out over 55% of the runners who attempted steals on him.

If Kade would have won, USC would have just declared their guy the co-winner.

Hope Johnny wasn't betting on the winner.
