Regional Hosts

LSU: We moved the Tigers in as a host in our Thursday morning update, and they didn't disappoint later in the day with a 7-2 win over Arkansas. LSU righthanded pitcher Aaron Nola struck out seven, walked three and allowed just two runs on five hits in 7 1/3 innings of work. The Tigers are up to 13 in the RPI with a 14-12 record vs. RPI Top 50 clubs.

does anyone think that the host sites are listed in order? meaning are we the top host site outside of the national seeds?

6 seeds are locked, these two are last-in. Doesn't list LSU as on the bubble, but that would probably change with wins. This is as of today.

Miami (Fla.) -- STATUS: No change -- The top-seeded Hurricanes entered the ACC tournament in good shape to snag a national seed, but things aren't as crystal clear as they were before this week. Miami dropped its first two games in the ACC tournament to Georgia Tech and Clemson, meaning it really needs to take the finale against Duke to avoid potential trouble on Selection Monday.

Mississippi -- STATUS: New addition -- Mike Bianco's Rebels are right back in there as a top-eight national seed after eliminating Vanderbilt from the SEC tournament with a 7-2 victory. Ole Miss got a quality start from lefthanded pitcher Jeremy Massie, while Auston Bousfield and Austin Anderson each had two hits in the contest. The Rebels' RPI is back up to 10 after the victory, putting them in prime position for a national seed. Ole Miss faces Arkansas in tourney action on Friday.

Others to watch: Cal Poly, South Carolina, TCU, Rice

From A. Fitt:

LSU is emerging as a darkhorse contender for a national seed. The Tigers likely need to win the SEC tournament to make up for their weak nonconference strength of schedule, but as hot as they are, they look very capable of doing just that.

rpi of 17, SOS of 145. ive seen enough. let them host ok, but do not give them a freaking national seed.

LSU's SOS keeps getting ripped on and theirs is 3 times worse. 3!

I would be shocked if Cal Poly got one. Number 17 RPI isn't enough to make up for their schedule.

Florida
Oregon State
Virginia
Florida State
Indiana

all seem very likely to me.

Cajuns
Ole Miss
Rice
TCU
Miami

and LSU if they win the tournament seem like the 6 fighting for the last 3 spots. Vandy and SCar shite the bed too hard

Maybe OKlahoma St since they won the Big XII, their RPI is pretty weak.

Hopefully Miami loses to Duke to knock themselves out of contention.

I think if we sweep the rest of the tournament, we get one. If we lose one of the remaining games, our RPI may take a giant shite and we'd get penalized for it.

Yeah, they did. They need to rebound in their tournament. They have a rivalry game with OU tonight at 7:30. Pulling for the Sooners in that one.

That would be the biggest laugh I've ever seen. Which means it will probably happen.

Cal Poly may be the one national seed that doesn't make it out of their regional

edit: ULL may not either.

Wins against OM and UF would make us quite appealing for that 8 seed!!

I mean everyone wants to talk about our non-conference SOS. Well Cal Poly and Washington's is in the 200's as well.

I think ULL is a lock, regardless of what happens in the sun belt tourney. Which means you have 5 teams for 2 spots. I think Miami gets on since they won ACC regular season title. Leaves one spot left...

I want Ole Miss to advance and play us tomorrow so the committee will have to look at our 3-1 record vs Ole Miss extremely hard.

Bad luck with weather and deadlines (F you UGA) prevented us from winning the SECW.
