Just when you think JJ is hopeless, he plays lightsout.

I'm not talking about stats, but how he handled himself from start to finish. Down 7 and going into score, BOOM, the int. Then A&M goes up 10-0. I don't know about some of you, but the only thing going on in my head was "bad thing man, bad things". I've said my share of bad things about JJ, but I have to give this kid a hell of alot of credit. From the moment he got the ball down 10-0, he looked and acted like the leader this team needed our QB to be. Was it just one game and back to normal, hell I know we all hope not. The one thing that I will say was different in both of the Bowl game wins he had, Miles put the game in his hand for the entire 60 minutes. He seems to play better when he doesn't have the looking over his shoulder waiting for Lee look.

JJ, you had a great game.

He did look real good with his pocket presence. However, he has look good in two games, and very bad in 11.

Yet sadly, 158 yards is lights out for him and barely throwing for 50% completion. He had a good game, but let's not get accustomed to a mediocre qb.

He played great.

If you watch that game, he was mentally prepared for just about everything that A&M threw at him.

He was confidently identifying the defenses pre-snap and knew where the ball should go. Neither long pass to Toliver were perfect, but both were thrown on time with air under the ball out in front of him which totally increased the margin for error.

Hell, the 2nd long pass to Toliver, he was so certain of what the defense was doing pre-snap, he footwork broke down in the pocket. He was excited, knew he had man to man, so he literally just jumped up in the pocket because he wanted to get the ball downfield.

The kid isn't perfect. But, he played his best game of his career, BY FAR last night.

It is amazing how different this offense can look (even with Crowton), when the QB is putting the ball into the hands of the playmakers on time.

Don't misunderstand me guys, Mett needs to be the guy next year IMO. I just didn't expect to see JJ play like that.

Don't know if I can say JJ played great. He made his 10 completions count, that's for sure, and he made a lot of things happen with his feet.

As a previous poster stated, let's not get carried away. He was still only 10 of 19, and some of his throws were just plain awful.

Give me the running game we had tonight EVERY game, and it will make ANY QB look good.

Thrilled with the win, but can't wait till spring practice to find out what we can do with Mr. Mettenberger.

He didn't play great. He didn't play good. He played good enough to win. Which is all we ask out of him. That being said he missed a high school type pass with guy wide open over middle which prolly would have been td.. took points off board by throwing int. The 2 best games of his career have been games where he didn't have to do much other than hand off to rbs. Both were bowl games. He did have 3 td passes and I will give him credit for those. But his play was still mediocre. Which was good enough to win

It's like the announcers said last night at the end of the game. It wasn't the stats that were impressive, it was his confidence and command of the offense. He knew what aTm was going to do and made proper reads and got shite done. Nobody is saying JJ's numbers were mind-blowing or heisman-worthy, but he looked like a very confident, comfortable leader out there and executed when asked to. That's all we need out of a qb, we don't need peyton fricking manning or $cam newton, we just need a qb that can run the offense.

Some of here really need to get over ourselves bout the pissing on JJ.

JJ accounted for bout 230 yds of O and 4 TDs.

No sane/rational college football fan would call that "mediocre".

Played well in two games. Both bowl games.

Cost us a chance to play in the BCSNC every season then saves his job, only to suck again the next season. AWESOME last night! Thanks! But please go away, we're wasting talent with an inadequate QB.

He played well but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He badly missed several open receivers.

He wasn't amazing but 158 yards with 3 PaTDs and 1 RuTDs on a night we had nearly 300 yards rushing is all we ever need from a QB with our stable of RB's.

He played an ok game. Ok is a huge improvement over his regular outting.

He still missed several receivers so bad it almost appeared he was just throwing the ball away.

He just can't do that, period. I like the improvement, but to ignore what he didnt do would be stupid.

230 total yards from a qb who also runs is just what I said lonnie. Mediocre. At best.

C'mon. He was better than OK. I'm a harsh critic of JJ, but damn. He threw 3 TDs on pretty nice throws, and, on the two long ones, he was hit as he threw. In general, if LSU's QB can account for 21 pts with his arm, then we won't lose too many games. Also, he made some huge plays with his legs (e.g., 3rd and 20 run for 1st). How many runs and/or passes for first down did he have?

Yes, he made a couple of poor throws (e.g., the miss of RR), and the INT was bad, but on balance that was a good game.

Yet, just think what LSU would have been this year, or could be in the future with enen a consistantly decent game managing quarterback like, say, a Matt Flynn clone or better yet, a legit All-American or Heisman contending quarterback. I'm just excited this morning about the future of LSU Football. (of course with a new OC)

I truely believe he finally starting to understand the play-book.
mite not always make the right decision when passing the pall but u see a more comfrotable QB.

Specially as the game goes on.

Miles and JJ are mirror images of each other. Just when you think they can't get worse, they pull something great out of their arse. Then everyone gets hopeful, and they shite the bed again. It's almost like neither Miles nor JJ can play well until everyone starts under estimating them.

Ok, you see a QB leading his team to 450 yds of O, 41 points, and 38 mins of ball possession time while accounting for 4 TDs as a " Mediocre" effort on his part.

I call BS on that, but you have to right to your opinion.

11-2, Cotton Bowl win, and I would think Top 10 ranked....it's too sweet being an LSU fan this morning for me to argue with you so....CHEERS to you!
