Just a thought Coach O's change from Pro to Spread

Has anyone stop to think that during the season that is what he thought his first choice as OC would run a Pro style offense but now Whoever that person is would like to run a spread.
Then if you think about it Kiffin has done both at Bama.
I have no idea but that is what I think happened here.

I don't think Kiffin has run the spread, maybe some elements of it. Of couse I may be splitting hairs or focusing on semantics here; if so I'm not trying to argue or offend.
But the spread requires space, especially laterally and starts with OL splits, which can vary but are usually wide. Then throw in the use of the shotgun (definitely employed by Kiffin) and motion (Saban used alot, Kiffin increased somewhat) then you're running the spread. But without spreading the front 7 out with formation and then creating soft spots with motion and/or routes, it's just a shotgun single back (or pro set) to me.
I dislike the spread for one reason: it assumes you are faster. LSU proved that's a bad assumption to base an entire season on. Speed on D eats up that space your offense is dependent on. Not saying it doesn't work, it just has a big flaw. That flaw can't be magically fixed by the opponent (they not going to go out and get super fast ringers just to play you) but it's such an Achilles heel when you run into a bad matchup you're in trouble.
ETA: worth pointing out that many pure spread teams want to run the ball more than pass. Oregon under Chip Kelly is a good example. Just want that RB in space, and you dink-n-dunk (in space) to basically do long-pitch runs. It's not a vertical attack until that skill player gets in space and breaks one.

2 weeks ago he was all pro-style. Yesterday he was spread. I would take it with a grain of salt

I think what he originally said was "I'm a pro style guy", and yesterday said "I believe that nowadays, you have to run the spread offense, you have to have dual-threat QB that can run and throw ball."
Do with that what you will, but in neither wire does he day "I'm gonna do this"

This isn't the 70s anymore, times have changed fellas. The difference between todays Pro-Style and Power Spread doesn't make a hill of beans, semantics really. The variant today comes with the ball handling and running abilities of the QB ultimately.
I doubt O is looking to go full Air raid just get further away from Miles caveman offense
