Jump Pass attempt

Last Year After Florida
In last year's press conference, Les was asked about the jump pass play that worked. (3:34 mark) He gave credit to Stud and mentioned using it with a fullback. I wonder how much Stud actually does call the plays....

so stud called one timeout, and miles called the other

I liked the call Saturday. Unfortunate it didn't work. Would have been a Mad Hatter Miles call if it worked and everyone would have loved him.

the call is one thing.
the situation that occurred before the actual play was puzzling.

they telegraphed a trick play by calling two timeouts and miles talking to 14 for five minutes in plain view of everyone...a guy who hadn't been in the game at all to that point

I laughed! You would have thought after 2 time outs we would come up with something better than we did

My 2 year old nephew saw that coming. Embarrassing if you ask me.

lining up mcgee in a normal wilcat as the qb would have been better and a more easily executable pass

why not just do it with RS10? He acutally lines up at TB on occasion and I'm pretty sure he has the ability to jump up and throw a duck 8 yards into the endzone.
They do the stupdiest shite I've ever fricking seen.

A total clusterfrick. Was this to get back at Tebow?

No it still would have been a stupid call. If it's such a great play, why only run it once a year against Florida? It's to be "cute" and it's beyond retarded. Not to mention putting in our shortest (5'9") RB to run the play who also hasnt played all damn year save for garbage time. Stupid on numberous levels.

This was the key point in the game, recognizable both at the time and in hindsight. I said in that moment that we should ram it out of the I with 44 leading the way 4 times if that is what it takes. We needed to prove a point that we could do it, if nothing else. We ran it on 1st down and picked up 3, I believe. Then we got cute and essentially gave the game away on that very series by not getting 7 and the momentum.
The calls on 2nd and 3rd down are out of character for Miles in that situation and make it that much more frustrating to witness the fiasco that ensued.
I don't know if the jump pass attempt was made out of arrogance (payback...already accomplished in a previous year, so why do it again??) or stupidity. Either way, it was a bad call attempted with bad personnel.

That was the most puzzling play call I've seen in a while..If it's ran with spencer ware then the play might have worked..how hard is it to throw a ball 5 yards to an open guy. Instead they brought in the tailback at the bottom of the depth chart..nothing fishy there at all.

Odell's fumble was a more apparent turning point

That could certainly be argued, but going up 10-0 after lining up and ramming it in the old fashioned way makes a statement and captures momentum.

They ran it on 3rd down with UF playing safe. That play was dead from the get go.
Miles needs to understand down and distance. That play would have probably been a TD on 2nd down right after we pounded it down UFs throats on first.

I thought you couldn't call 2 timeouts. May be thinking pros though..

CLM had to call back to back TO's because the headsets were not working on the sidelines according to his quote in The Advocate. As for the call, we've used it once, it worked, and the ranters went nuts over it. It gets shut down & now we should have run the ball 3 times off tackle, which is heretofore, a major no no according to ranters. As to which RB should have been used, it's reasonable to assume that there was a good reason for it. The timeouts hurt as it gave Fla time to see the new RB.
