I thought Gray was the key...penetrating and dishing or finishing. This is what we need out of our PG. 14 pts 10 assists is money for a PG. He looked way more confident. He still gets stripped of the ball a bit too often...which I think is due to dribbling too high when driving in the lane. But I'll take this type of performance every game!

Kudos Josh

We've only had a player get 10 assists maybe 3 times in last 6 years. Great game for him.

The broadcast team showed him being 3rd in the SEC in assists. Tonight is only going to help that stat.

I think the times he was off is because he is still thinking about what he is doing, trying to learn to play the point. By the end of this year or next year it should come more natural.

Gray's play is critical to this team. When he's bad (Mizzou), tigers looked really bad.

Nice to have a facilitator pushing the ball down the court.

Played a good all around game. Made free throws and made a couple of good decisions to drive in. How was his defense? It must have been pretty good given Ole Miss's 3 pt percentage huh?

He is gaining confidence. As he goes, so goes the Tigers.

Might have been his best game overall. Especially against the zone this offense can bog down. Gray is quick enough to break down a zone and has good court vision. When he is engaged, he's good. If he starts poorly he can get in a funk quickly

Starting to look like the player before the ankle sprain. Looked like the quickest guy on the floor tonight and was huge as you said in garnering the victory. In fact, the LSU guards as a whole outplayed the much more lauded Rebel guards.

I talked with him after Georgia game. He said to refocus he cut off social media cut off female friends. He would just read book and spend time with the coaches to pick their brains. My cousin is very very focused this can be a fun run.

Yeah he definitely deserves credit. Gray is the key. If he's consistent we can be very good.

Gray had 10 assists which ties the highest assist total for a player in the Johnny Jones era.
(Charles Carmouche had 10 in a loss at Marquette in 2012)

Only 4 players have had 10 assists in the past decade an nobody has had more
Josh Gray vs Ole Miss (1/14/15)
Charles Carmouche vs Maquette (12/22/12)
Garrett Temple vs Troy (11/30/08)
Tack Minor vs Ohio State (1/15/05)

Also the first player to have 10 assists in an SEC game since Torris Bright had 10 against Mississippi State back in 2003.

I still don't trust him at the end of the game. And he sucks at free throws.

Gray has been catching a lot of shite but played really well tonight. I can get on board with this.

So is the rant narrative still that he's too much of a scorer to fit in CJJ's system?

He had a great game tonight. He should have had 2 more assists that were turnovers cause guys weren't ready, and it wasn't his fault...Did really well penetrating and dishing...I think he's building that confidence. The length of players is bothering him, and he can't drive on these SEC defenders like he could in JUCO, but nice distributing tonight...Probably wish he had a few FT's back, but good game, and he was a liability against Missouri, what a difference...

Aggressive to the lane is what makes great PG's. It creates open shots, period.

Very nice to see JG getting his confidence up. When those Chris Jackson-esque three's start dropping, he's gonna be a stud.
