Not really good news for Oakland, but pretty good for him.

Who said anything about Barksdale not being a decent lineman? There is no slight. But it does show how bad their line is. Most 3rd round linemen do not start their 1st year especially at tackle.

I remember a few chicken littles on here bitching about the shitty coaches converting him to OL.

c'mon folks, read the article. HE expects to start, not necessarily the team. it's more of a goal-setting/ mindset thing. and I think that's great news for the Raiders. good kid, you gotta love his attitude.

Good article about him. Sounds like a stand up guy.

I don't think it's great news for the Raiders, but I can see how it could be. Having a 3rd round pick start on the O-line as a rookie isn't what they need. Their O-line already sucks as it is.

However, if he works his tail off and gets a starting spot and does good then it'll be good for Oakland. We really won't be able to judge until the season starts.

The raiders OL sucked all the way to 2nd best rushing offense in the NFL last year, FYI

Great article. He seems like a very level-headed, professional guy. He's the type that will play many, many years in the league if he can stay healthy.

One strange thing about the article though is how Barksdale chose LSU over OSU, number of O-linemen in the league.

In 2007,
OSU boasted 6, none of whom were in the league for more than 6 years.
Adrien Clarke
Nick Mangold
Shane Olivea
Rob Sims
Alex Stepanovich
Tyson Walter

LSU had 7, none of whom played under Miles.
Alan Faneca
Nate Livings
Kevin Mawae
Todd McClure
Stephen Peterman
Andrew Whitworth
Ben Wilkerson

I'm going to go ahead and call BS on the reasoning behind choosing LSU. It's more likely due to the stately oaks and broad magnolias.

They actually started two rookie's on the OL. All I said is that they sucked, didn't say they were the worst OL in the league. They struggled pass blocking, but had a good running year(which has to do with DM having a good year finally).

well, Whit did (technically). and you forgot about Niswanger. the chance to be the next Herm or Ciron was just too much to ignore.
