Averaging 12 pts, 11 reb,and 3 blocks per game throughout the whole summer league. Being recognized as a top steal in the draft. With the Celtics lacking a defensive inside presence expect Mickey to crack the rotation early in the season. He's improved his man defense and passing. The midrange jumper is looking consistent. Keep balling Mickey!!!

Finished with 18 pts, 5 reb, and 3 blocks against the Spurs today.

i'll take that bet

*ETA: not counting if he gets in the rotation due to injuries

Olynk and Sullinger are horrendous on defense and Brandon Bass plays for the Lakers now. He will be playing early and often.

i doubt he's that good defensively, his only area of positivity, and i doubt he's even competent at that as a rookie

i'm glad for what he did for LSU and i hope he proves me wrong, but he's just lacking the physical attributes to translate his game to the NBA

With the league going to Uptempo and small ball his game will translate well. Even if he isn't dominate at scoring the league values high energy guys with athleticism. In addition he has a midrange jumper.

Mickey is doing well.... But it's still summer league. Need to keep that in mind.

And the Celtics have a crowded front court. They acquired Amir Johnson and David Lee in free agency. And they still have Sullinger, Olynyk, Zeller, and Jerebko. And they all have showed they can play in the league, not just the summer league.

For as good as Mickey has been in the summer league, it's still gonna be tough for him to get consistent minutes when the season starts.

he's the size of a 3 trying to play the 5

allegedly

look i hope every guy does well in the NBA, but he's going to be one of the oddest NBA players if he does do well

list me the 6-8 rim protectors in the NBA right now

He plays the 4 not the 5 sir.
Taj Gibson 6'9
Kenneth Farried 6'8
David West 6'9
Paul Millsap 6'8
Draymond Green 6'7 plays the 4
Thaddeus Young 6'8
Josh Smith 6'9

Mickey is 6'8 235 with a 7'3 wingspan and a 35 in vert I'm sure he'll be fine.

Every single one of those players you listed blow Mickey out of the water athletically.

And they aren't rim protectors, which is what slow flow asked.

for the record, you listed 0 rim protectors and a bunch of bad defenders. 2 are solid man defenders who are protected by rim protectors

mickey is not a good man defender and is not the athlete that gibson and green are (jumping isn't the only measurement of athleticism). he could anchor a D...in college. he was good at helpside blocks...in college.

he's a guy without a position (which is why i defended his choice to leave early. staying in college wouldn't make him a better prospect)

except D West, but he's never been a good defender and is an outlier-type (in the completely opposite way from mickey)

I skipped over the D. West name because it didn't even make sense to compare the two players.

in speed, quickness, and overall explosiveness

mickey can jump high when he's allowed to get set and he has long arms, but his ability to get into the position to block/alter shots in the NBA is going to be a major issue. it was fine for college, but that's a completely different game (literally a different style)

if martin gets his head on straight, works, and gets traded to an eastern conference team, he could make an all star game

he also could flame out in 3 years
