Jones Buyout Number

from what I can tell and have read, TAF would owe him $400,000/ yr for the remaining 3 years on his contract $1.2 mil total. I don't think that's a huge number for the athletic department/TAF to swallow, and I'm sure they could negotiate it further.
I also agree with other posters that 1) this season will be used against him in recruiting, 2) The uncertainty will hurt the 2017-18 recruiting classes, 3) The cupboard is not completely bare with Blakney, Victor, Sampson, the 2 Juco signees, and Howard the Australian kid. The new coach would have something to work with.
9-9, 9-9, 11-7, 9-6 (with 3 to play)= 38-31 or 55% which was pretty much his average over 10 yrs at NT

you need to edit for the citizens are governor and school president think are too stupid to understand.
It's not the university swallowing anything. It's TAF.

Do you think the governor and school president are wrong about that? If they are, it would be an historic event, making them the first two people ever to find a way to underestimate the intelligence of the citizens of Louisiana.

It doesn't matter what his number is. HE WILL NOT BE FIRED.
With the budget crisis, for appearances sake, Fking won't approve them firing anyone.

who gives a shite? Do the right thing. If some are too stupid to understand it, tough shite.
How difficult is it for either of them to come up and say "LSU athletics can do what they want b/c they are financially independent from the state and university. They can do whatever they want with their money. We are thankful for the 10 million bucks they give us every year in cold hard cash and the 100's of millions they give to us in economic impact every year. They should do whatever is necessary to keep winning at a high level."
Instead they come out and just assume every Louisiana resident is a moron, and call them out on it, and there's nothing they can do to change whatever morons think that LSU athletics use state money.
They should be taking the opportunity to applaud LSU and TAF on having one of the few fully sustainable athletic budgets in the country.

How did this come about that he's in this position where admins have to kiss his ring Re: all matters LSU basketball.
His Garret played his last game here was 7 years ago and his influence in getting his kids friends to come here ended 4 years earlier when Garret graduated high school.
I don't understand it.

Exactly.
What's the worst that could happen if we tell CT to back off - we suck?
Trending that way now, why not try something different?

They won't do that though unfortunately. It was a big factor in Jones being hired. I guarantee CT wanted to bring in someone that wouldn't challenge him or keep him in the dark like TJ did. CJJ was the perfect yes man, a big time jump from north Texas and coaching his school with a raise.

Don't think we haven't thought about it, but lots of things are in the way, mainly JBE and the Temple faction.
I'm hoping LSUR can make some headway with those guys so we can get this program out the shitter.

When's the last time you even bought a Coke on LSU's campus?
Posted on 2/24/16 at 12:55 pm to TeddyPadillac
Did LSU's athletic department not just donate some insane amount like 20 million to academics? I don't think anyone has a right to bitch what they do from that point forward with buyouts.

Yes, the money was private and had nothing to do with public funds. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good liberal narrative.

Of course, but the question is, can you ever really go wrong assuming that people in Louisiana are morons?
