What do you guys think about bringing Johnny Jones back to the men's basketball staff as head coach? Did he have any part in the Lester Earl scandal? At least he can recruit. I'll hang up and listen...

Only the part Dale Brown instructed him to do.

LSU fricked Johnny, not the other way around.

Both Dale and Johnny Jones were cleared by the NCAA. When Lester wrote his apology, he admitted that he lied about Dale and in his apology to Johnny Jones, he called them "supposed 'little things'" that he accused Jones of. He has gone on to a very successful coaching career, turning the Mean Green program around. They have had 4 straight 20-win seasons.

you don't have to tell me. LSU would be at the top of the SEC with JJ running the program. What he did with Memphis after Tic was fired was amazing.

had it been anyone else but Calipari, Memphis may have chosen to keep JJ.

Don't you think that as bad as the NCAA wanted to punish Dale, and with the severity of the sanctions given, don't you think they would have salivated to lay the blame squarely on Brown and Jones?

Can't Jones have a second chance to prove he can run a clean program?

It could be just the jolt that the basketball program needs. He was the recruiter during the heyday of the Dale Brown era. And he is proving at UNT that he can coach. If Randy Livingston hadn't blown both his knees, we might not be where we are now (Lester Earl included).

Johnny Jones! He was a huge part of Lester Earl.
Dale Brown also! He cheated the whole time he was at LSU. I know for a fact that in 1986 a VERY poor center for teh BBall Team got a new 280 zx for a "loaner". It was total BS and he barely fit into the thing.
ALSO, I know for a fact that at least 5 of them were cashing checks from a job where they rode around all day and did nothing during the summer. I kow the guy that paid them.
Daddy Dale set it up and this guy had Court side seats.

How could this center get a "new 280zx" as a "loaner" when the last model year was 1983?

yeah. it was 1985 and it was a 300 zx. may not have been new, but it sure did look new to me. You can probably guess the player I am referring to. HINT: EVERYBODY loved that guy.

And the company's initials are RSO, that was paying these players to ride around. JR was one of them. It was a joke. I went to a LOT of games with excellent seats b/c my dad knew the owner as we were from the same town.

Ricky had well-to-do parents. shite, I had a nice ride in college, and I worked my arse off to pay for it. Did you ever see Shaq driving around in that Range Rover-looking thing he had? Guess what...his dad got that for him.

Assuming you mean the 1985-86 team, there was no one on the team with the initials JR
