Looking at how the training and experience at LSU eventually translate into their NBA careers, we may say that the termination of Johnny Jones was not surprising. The players with more contributions to their teams in NBA (Bass, Hamilton, Temple and Thornton) are from pre-Jones era. To be fair though, nobody knows about Simmons' future yet and Martin, Mickey, O'Bryant and Quarterman are still relatively early in their pro careers. What do you think?

List of all LSU players currently in NBA (as of Feb. 17, 2017):

Brandon Bass – Los Angeles Clippers -- 37 games, 11.8 mpg, 59.7 FG%, 50.0 3FG%, 90.6 FT%, 5.6 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.6 apg

Justin Hamilton -- Brooklyn Nets -- 48 games, 19.3 mpg, 45 FG%, 30.6 3FG% (45 makes), 79.1 FT%, 6.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 0.8 apg

Jarell Martin -- Memphis Grizzlies -- 40 games, 13.5 mpg, 37.5 FG%, 34.6 3FG%, 79.2 FT%, 3.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.2 apg

Jordan Mickey -- Boston Celtics -- 16 games, 7.3 mpg, 48.3 FG%, 60.0 FT%, 2.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.3 apg

Johnny O'Bryant III -- Denver Nuggets -- (in 2nd 10-day contract with the team) -- 7 games, 6.6 mpg, 46.7 FG%, 66.7 3FG%, 100.0 FT%, 2.8 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.3 apg

Tim Quarterman -- Portland Trailblazers -- 13 games, 3.4 mpg, 61.5 FG%, 50.0 3FG%, 1.5 ppg, 0.5 rpg, 0.6 apg

Ben Simmons -- Philadelphia 76ers -- yet to play (rehabbing injury)

Garrett Temple – Sacramento Kings -- 49 games, 26.6 mpg, 43.6 FG%, 36.7 3FG% (58 made), 79.0 FT%, 7.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.2 apg

The message should have read LSU players in the NBA despite Johnny Jones.

It's a decent, but not great, list of players.

I think Brandon Bass played at LSU way before Johnny Jones got there:

I never thought in 1000 years that Garrett Temple would lead all LSU alums in scoring... What a career he has made for himself.

He was only off by 7 years on Bass. Cut him some slack.

Re-read the OP. He is comparing pre JJ and post JJ Tigers in the NBA.

Apparently you didn't read my posting. I intentionally mentioned that Bass, Hamilton, Temple and Thornton were from pre-Jones era. The list/link from LSUSports.net has all LSU players currently in NBA.

Let me guess, you probably think Les Miles was a great developer of talent too.

He was a better winner of games than any other coach at LSU was.

Yep. Having watched him in high school I wasn't convinced he'd be a good college player, let alone carve out a nice NBA career. Good on him
