As an alum, if Johnny Jones has any pride in LSU basketball, and sees the historically bad basketball team he is putting on the floor, he needs to honorably resign now to give LSU an advantage in searching for his replacement.

Do the right thing JJ, take one for the team.

Either resign honorably or his career will be remembered in the way that Curly Hallman is remembered.

Well I'm sure Alleva is doing his due-diligence putting together a list of possible candidates already and setting the wheels in motion for a thorough coaching search.

What advantage will we be gaining?

Hell, even Smoke Levall can do a better coaching job than this. At least Skip knew to make a change before the culture was changed away from winning.

Acknowledging that it's over to officially let potential candidates know our position is open. Acknowledging that we don't put up with losing. Acknowledging that what is happening to our program, our kids self confidence, our fanbase's support is not ok.

But this isn't Burger King where you can walk in from the street and apply. They can't act on it any sooner.

Waiting 2 weeks doesn't change any of this

You're right. It's so funny to hear ppl say how much Jones loves LSU and how he's such a class act. If all that was true he'd realize he's in way over his head and he'd do what's best for the team his players and his school.

There are multiple positives for him leaving or firing him now. There are zero positives for keeping him.

What advantage did we get from letting Miles go early?

We were the first team to contact Herman. We were the first team to be able to start our search that wasn't the issue. The issue is that we have the worst admin in college sports.

Need that same firm of head hunters to run the thorough search like Alleva asked of them for Football.

Right. So the timing of his firing is of no importance. They'll screw up this hiring process as well.

And our head start meant shite. Texas fired Strong after the season and they got the guy. Coaches go where they want to go for the money they want. Extra time to court them doesn't help.

Wonder where those guys work now.

first in line.

the opportunity to pitch before others do.

the sales opportunity to have the person say yes.

My Jewish mother (Brooklyn born and Hempstead high) said, "you don't ask, you don't get".
edited to note, she was the #1 or #2 sales person wherever she went.
million$. champ.

Well that's kind of a defeatist attitude. Yes they're terrible and there's a better than 50% chance they screw it up which makes us doing the right thing when we have opputunintirs that much more important. He should be gone already. Every day we keep him we increase the chances of Blakeney leaving for the draft, players transferring and recruits turning us down. There are reasons for firing him now there are none for keeping him.

Jones will not resign on his own. He knows this year has been a disaster, as have stretches of previous seasons, but he wants to right the ship.

The problem is he's not a good enough coach to do it..gotta fire him. If he does resign, it will be because we allow him to leave with some dignity.

It's a realistic attitude based on past performance.

Let's assume Jones was fired already. None of those players would decide to stay until a new coach was hired.

The only reason to fire him now is to put all of us out of our misery. But clearly Alleva does not agree.

If he were to do it, he would've done it weeks ago. Unfortunately, I think what you see is what you're going to get, at least until the season ends.

If they were to fire him now, they would owe him some sort of buyout. I have no idea what that figure is but it would be something.

I really don't like seeing the PMAC so sparse, almost empty, for a game. That has to mess with the players psychologically, at least a little.

I will say that it would greatly benefit Alleva to have some coaches in mind to go after right now, as if the season were to end tomorrow. He can't wait until it ends, then start looking.
