We've all been frustrated with the up and down play of the defense. The man has his faults, but all the prognostications of the demise of LSU defense are entirely premature.
In 2009 we featured an okay, not great defense in Chavis' first year. We were starting guys like Charles Alexander, Rahim Alem, Al Woods, and Chris Hawkins, with a couple of good players like a young Patrick Peterson, Kelvin Sheppard and Chad Jones' final year.
But redshirting that year were Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, Morris Claiborne, Kevin Minter and Tyrann Mathieu coming.
I think this defense is in a similar position. Tons of super young talent with a couple of emerging stars. We'll get right back to playing elite level defense as early as next year.
Great win. Great defensive plan. Great effort.

Well, that's what I was getting at with young guys redshirting.
In 2009, guys like Brockers, Logan, Sam, Mingo all waiting in the wings. All would become essential.
Similarly this year we have Gilmore, Bain, Herron and guys hardly playing like Bower all waiting. With Gerald Willis, Godchaux, Clark and others coming.

Hats of to chavis!
I beat aTm's punter thinks his leg is going to fall off today. Record number of punts in the JFF era.
If the refs had flagged Derel Walker for a blatant push off the aggies would have been held to one field goal.

And that would have been off a short field as a result of a poor punt.

I didn't think he pushed off, but it was a fluke TD because White slipped.

Yeah that was Loston's best game of the year, by far.
