i don't see us winning more than 8-9 as long as we have jenning/miles combo

We've heard this before. First it was we will never win the west, did that, then it turned into, we will never win another bcs title, well we won't, but we played for one. 6 teams since then have played for a title. 2 from our own division and only 3 diff teams have won one. I don't see why LSU should be playing for one every year when there is a small minority of programs that do.

10 wins is the benchmark this year. If we don't win atleast 10 games I will be on the fire miles bandwagon.

8 wins a year keeps his job.

failing to win 8 games in a year will lead to firing or assassination.

true, most fans would. But most aren't fans of an elite football school with an exceptional recruiting base, no relevant in-state competition, top-notch facilities and support. So you can't just look at that number (10 wins) in a vacuum.

We play 13 games per year, including the bowl game. So the average is 10-3. yes, that seems good.

But, 3-5 wins per year are against cupcakes or lesser competition.

10-3 with average talent is fantastic. 10-3 with elite talent (like we typically have) isn't. Good, but not great.

Miles has averaged 3.3 losses a year since 2008 and that includes the 2011 season. That is not acceptable.

Note to the trolls that inhabit this board. He said "fans". Not assholes that call themselves fans.

Let's say in 2021, Urban Meyer has continued his success at Ohio State but hasn't won another championship or even another prestigious bowl game. Meanwhile Harbaugh has won 3 titles at Michigan and has beaten Ohio State 4 years in a row. Think that wouldn't get the buckeye faithful restless?

Seeing as John Cooper beat Michigan once in 13 years before he got fired, I'd say who knows?

It would be interesting to read the Rantards melting down if Miles had won the same number of games except with outstanding QB play and really crappy RB's or DB's. I'm guessing the usual suspects would be still be crying into their Natty Lites.

This makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. I say Brandon Harris wins the job and becomes the breakout QB of 2015. We have all the WRs you could want, all the TEs you could want, all the RBs you could want, and all the OL you could want. They have experience too. Let him become the true starter from week one and work through any early growing pains. I'm not saying he won't lose a game for us, but I believe with him at the helm, we win at least 11 games total next year.

I saw a lot of good things from him in the spring game, saw a lot of great things from the WRs. That will aid him immensely in his first year starting.

Since the embarrassment that was the 2011 national championship game-LSU has shown a steady though not dramatic decline. Fact of the matter is since the 2012 football season LSU football has been irrelevant on the national stage. If LSU goes two more years without the ability to complete a 10 yard pass to a wide-open TE or back to back 8-5 , 7-6 records- then somebody else deserves a chance to lead this football team.

I hate to think if we lose 4 games we would wait another year to fire Miles. He should be fired already.

Les has adapted now to the new reality of the West

If he has, he sure as hell hasn't shown it. He's still pounding that square peg into a round hole more often than not. There's nothing wrong with a ground-oriented attack, but we need to be more inovative and less predicatable on offense if we hope to regain our rightful spot atop the SEC.

Tiger fans have to realize what a stretch of coaching it was for last years team to win 8 games. Also we all need to realize that the failure of the program to meet the lofty goals is due to the early departures for the NFL. If you want to hold CLM responsible for that I can buy it but to say that this coaching group doesn't have it just because you don't like their style is ludicrous. Think of how good this program would have been the last four yrs if even 3/4 of the early entries had stayed. They would have been on par with Bama.

LINK The SEC is going to be tough again this year, particularly in the West. The Tigers could be better, but due to the strength of the conference it is possible that the win total could not rise as much
. The SEC West turned out to be very overrated last year. Almost every single team lost it's bowl game. Some of them were beaten badly. I don't think we can use the excuse that the SEC is just too tough anymore. The talent level on this team is elite. We are one of the 5 most talented teams in the country. No excuses for another 7 or 8 win type of season.
