"Literally 80 percent just say 'no' right away" when LSU contacts potential opponents, Alleva said Tuesday morning on 104.5 FM ESPN's Culotta & The Prince radio show. "They're a little more open to the so-called neutral-site game. That's why we were able to attract a Wisconsin, a TCU ... BYU in the future... "Teams don't want to come to Tiger Stadium and get their butts beat. That's just a fact of life. I'm being as blunt as I can be...they don't want to schedule losses."

My first thought is, "Come on Joe, we lose lots of games." But then when I think about it, he's right. We don't lose OOC regular season games.

Makes sense.
I guess the way you have to look at it is that we need a good OOC opponent each year, they refuse to play in TS, so we may have to play in those kickoff games or at a neutral site.

Truth
I would love to see a big OOC game in TS. Bring the Golden Domes down here!

He said what most smart fans realize but some fans will still bitch about anything. This is why I would love the 9 game conference schedule one less cupcake.

That's just the way CFB is nowadays.
With that being said. I'm a bit tired of us always going to TX. It would be nice if we could have a neutral site game in the Superdome.

Virginia Tech and West Virginia know this very well

Could you really consider this a neutral site?
Posted on 5/19/15 at 12:29 pm to ArcticFox
Verge has been saying this for years but for some reason there's a part of the fan base that refuses to believe it.

It wouldn't be the advantage of playing in Tiger Stadium, so yes.

Playing TCU in Dallas was considered a neutral site.

Yea but it would be pretty damn close to the same advantage.

Not really.
Oklahoma managed 25 or 30% of the dome in 2004. As did tOSU in 2008.

Yea that was bad on us as a fan base. Too many local fans opted to watch the game at home and save the $$$$.

There is a very easy solution to all of this. Expand the playoffs.
Power conf teams don't want to come to LSU because it is a likely loss on their schedule in a system where one loss could essentially end any chance to play for a national title, and two losses almost assuredly does (yes, I remember 2007 which was the exception not the rule). For instance, what benefit would there be for a team like USC to come play LSU? It's already tough for any power conference team to go undefeated in conf. play. Why tack an extremely tough OOC road game on the schedule that would likely result in a loss? You would decrease your margin of error in conf. play.
Even if you play in a weak power conf. (ACC for example), it's better to go undefeated in conf. play and against four bad OOC teams than it is to be a one loss team that played a much tougher schedule. An undefeated power conf. team is always going to get into the playoffs above a 1 loss team (though to their credit, the selection committee did "penalize" FSU for playing in bad conference by seeding them 3rd behind 1 loss Alabama and Oregon)
Though the formation of a playoff has helped a bit, it hasn't gone far enough. Teams still try to "minimize the risk of a loss" with the only part of the schedule they can control, the OOC games. While neutral site games aren't great for season ticket holders and people who just don't want to travel several hours to attend an expensive game, they at least have the benefit of providing the opportunity for a SOS boost while somewhat minimizing the risk of a loss that a true "away game" brings. That still doesn't solve the problem of having big OOC games at home. Expand the playoffs to anywhere from 8 - 16 teams and you'll begin to see more power conf. teams be willing to play higher profile games in order to get the SOS boost because the risk that one or two losses ends your championship hopes is decreased with the expanded playoff field. It's why in college basketball you routinely see games between powerhouses like Duke and Michigan St. or UK and Kansas

LOL WV got double fricked. Beat their arse in Baton Rouge, and beat their arse at Morgantown. Maybe they should play at a Nuetral Site for the hat trick.
