Dude knows what he wants and he's going after it. You have to admire him for that. I really don't get all the anti Alleva sentiment.

I suspect there's a former LaCrosse team somewhere that could explain it to you.

Well we can start with the fact that he's paying a women's basketball coach around $700k a year and couldn't muster up a little bit of extra money and just guarantee Chavis what he wanted to avoid having to deal with this Steele bullshite. I personally think he's made a lot of missteps but apparently the new rant narrative is that Alleva is great because rummeltiger said so

It's a ballsy move. I think it's the right move and there is a lot more going on that the fans won't ever know about. It's not much of a gamble if he has a big time proven coach lined up

So much ignorance packed into 1 post. Pretty impressive actually.

I think the majority are reserving judgement for awesome. As of now, a lot of us err on the side of caution (i.e. him fricking everything up).

It's pretty much Jimbo or bust. No Jimbo = Joe Probably Fired.

As I type this, there's an FSU website user somewhere starting a thread saying "Our AD better throw money to keep our coach!" So the pressure is on over there too. If there's going to be a war, Joe Alleva better win it. And for him to be showing so much of his hand so quickly, it's easy to perceive his chances diminishing.

Hanging your legendary, winningest coach in the SEC out to dry is probably a dangerous first move.

Enlighten me then, guy with 50,000 posts on the tiger rant. I get that vaguely calling someone ignorant then running away is the rant's way of being smart but I'm pretty sure that you have no fricking clue of what you're talking about and a quick review of your posts says that you're probably a college kid who thinks he knows everything without ever backing your arguments with substance

Ok #1 the Caldwell hire was a good one on paper from a number of fronts. Women's Basketball has a pretty strong following in town and has actually made a little money for LSU in the past. After the job she did turning UCLA around and the ties to the SEC it was as good a hire as any AD can make and, although to this point it hasn't worked out, was a wise investment of resources at the time to try and jumpstart another revenue stream for LSU. Alleva is also the Athletic Director, not a Football Director.

#2 We offered Chavis all the money he wanted, we just wouldn't guarantee it past the tenure of Miles, which was what he was asking for and the sticking point. This whole thing has been a play by Alleva for over a year to replace Miles. Whether or not that's a good decision remains to be seen but to say the Chavis thing was Alleva being cheap is flat out wrong.

Run along now son
