Compare their running game and the OL for the ENTIRE year.

Jefferson had zero run game and the worst OL I had ever seen and was still very productive.

Harris is still raw and I told people before he got here that he'd need two years on the bench/as a backup, before he starting in his 3rd year.

You don't remember LaDrop and alligator arms Deangelo Peterson and inconsistent Terrance Toliver?

JJ was solid his sophmore year. The problem was he didn't get much better and his terrible throwing mechanics attributed to that. JJ also got more snaps as a freshman. Harris has much better mechanics and a much higher ceiling.

JJ didn't have a QB coach. Harris has Cam Cameron. JJ didn't get a ton more snaps.

Jordan Jefferson 122 plays
Brandon Harris 71 plays

2 games worth of snaps is not much different at all.

JJ had 12 games, where BH will have 11th after bowl game but pretty similar.
I wonder what McNeese State would have done for Harris's numbers?

It's not the snaps; it's the starts.

Starts mean more practice reps and running with the ones. Starts mean more reps when the game is on the line, not garbage time.

Jefferson got three starts in 2008. More importantly, he got all of the bowl preparation time.

Harris got one start in 2014, and was not the starter for the bowl.

It actually is for a young guy. Harris is going to surprise many of you next season. The biggest jump QBs make is from year 1 starting to year 2 starting. He is the guy and will get the first team reps in the off season. It was obvious JJ physically couldn't be a consistent QB in the SEC. His throwing motion was to long and exaggerated. Harris has a nice crisp release. He has the arm to make every throw and you don't hear him making excuses after the games and saying he feels like he played well after going 4/14 for 36 yards. JJ and Harris are night and day.

Nice analysis, I'm with you. Expect to see Harris improve this offseason. He also has competition from the guy from Purdue, Les is going to give the transfer a hard look. Harris will compete and he will be hard to beat.

Deangelo Peterson had an ungodly amount of athletic ability and was a mismatch for any safety or linebacker in the country....except he couldn't catch the fricking ball and would run a 7 yard curl on 3rd and 9.

I have been saying this for a while. If we had JJ at QB these last two years we would have won at least 10 games.

Which is why BH should have gotten meaningful snaps last year. Especially when we had a month to prepare for a meaningless bowl.
