Whether fair or not to Joe (he probably isn't the one putting the info out there) it would be perceived by the fanbase as another facepalm.
2012 - There was talk about Jamie Dixon....only to have Jones be the guy
2015 - Les is out and Jimbo is in!...only to have Joe triumphantly declare Les the HC 20 minutes after he is carried off the field in his last game
2016 - LSU seems to be nearing an agreement with Tom Herman....2 days later Joe hires Ed Ogeron
2017 - LSU nearing deal with Will Wade....tomorrow, We are pleased to announce Kermit Davis as our next coach. He was who we wanted all along!!!

IF (big if) Wade is actually the guy they want, I would prefer Steve Forbes as the back-up plan.
I like Kermit and think he has gotten a bad rap during this search, but he wouldn't be in my top 3 realistic candidates.

Wrong. Did you see the announcement? Alleva didn't "triumphantly" announce anything.
He looked like he was eating a shite sandwich when he announced Les was still the coach.

There's definitely a pattern there.
And the fact that Ott thinks the Wade deal could happen soon doesn't exactly inspire me that the pattern will be broken. When Ott predicts something, I usually consider taking out a mortgage to bet the other way.
