I've been a complainer about Hawthorne as anyone, but I think it's a nice touch.

He sang God Bless the USA in Tiger Stadium, and it was legit.

I was in Tiger Band when he sang God Bless the USA with us. He changed lyrics purposefully at times (city names to reflect Louisiana names) but nailed it otherwise.
