With all the predictions for next season being sky-high...

How will Jordan be remembered if he ends his career with a NC with little-to-no assistance from Mett? Think of it as the way Perilloux filled in for Flynn during the 2007 campaign.

He's never going to be seen as the freak that JR was, but can he be seen as the smart, serviceable, average QB that maintained the game, or is he just an extremely lucky Josh Booty?

As one of the only 4 Tiger qb's to lead their team to a NC. Remember, if LSU wins the NC this year, jj will be the best qb in the world, Coach Miles will be the best coach in the world, t-bob hebert will be the best (whichever the hell position he'll play) in the world, moffitt will be the best S&C coach in the world, & so on & so on. This fickle LSU fan base has a VERY short memory, raise the crystal ball at the end of the season & nobody remembers anything other than that.

I have a feeling the that IF jefferson is our full-time starter with Kragthrope that he cements his legacy as being a true dual-threat QB at LSU.

Will that translate to wins?

Stay tuned.

No, I will continue to remember his horrid play the past two years.

There is maybe a 1% chance of this happening. Unless Mett gets injured, there's a good chance he'll contribute to this season. Remember the strong possibility of injury at the QB position. Also, this year's schedule is much tougher than last season's.

depends on how he actually plays the season. if he plays a season like say Jason Campbell did his last yr, then it's the former. if it's a case where he's say just slightly better passing than he was last yr (but still worse than where he was in 09), but Miles doesn't yank him because we're winning, then I think he'll be viewed as just lucky.

That's perception, though. It's not a legacy. 5-10 years from now, in what regard will he be held? There have been different responses already, one claiming he will have reached true "dual-threat" status, and others saying that they will never forget the shite he put them through before.

It's an interesting case, I think. He'll be the winningest QB in LSU history, have a NC ring... but there will be about a one year period out of three years that he was completely ineffective and may have COST us a NC.

If he is the first starting black QB to win a NC at LSU, he will go down as a winner and very good quaterback. Most true Tiger fans will remember him as a great competitor no matter how next year ends. Good but not great. Both Matts that won NC's were good, not great so he will be in great company if he wins the NC next year.

He's the winningest QB in LSU history because of his team, not because of him. He will be known as that QB that showed potential when he had time to prep (bowl games, season openers) but in week-to-week games he can't get it done. If he has a jason campbell type of season, then he'll be known as the flop that turned himself around.

He's got nothing on Josh Booty. Anyone who argues differently is being disingenuous. Booty was stubborn and goofy, but he was a 1st Team Coaches All-SEC Quarterback.

Yes, he threw 16 picks in his first year. But, I while I saw him call an audible nobody knew about against UAB, and somehow think he could will himself to a TD against Alabama as the clock ran out, I never saw him line up under the Guard by accident, nor call a play in the huddle, only to have to pull his hands from under center to then read his wrist-chart of plays because HE forgot them.

He's not the gamer that Herb Tyler was, but he's actually done better in terms of W's compared to Herb. That's because he's many times more of an athlete than Herb was at the QB position, though with far less juke.

In his wettest dreams, he'll never have the ability to lead ala a Rohan Davey.

Likewise, he'll never be the freak that Russell was.

He'll never have it all like Flynn.

He's a somewhat sloppy caretaker. A mirror of his head coach and his hiring practices immediately prior and throughout his playing career.

Sloppy but serviceable. Not ever gonna make it over the hump.

Truth hurts.

But you have to remember, that has absolutely nothing to do with:

You are only getting current perceptions of what people imagine Jefferson will be like after a NC season. The comment earlier was based on the way champions are regarded after the fact in general. Matt Mauck was nowhere near as good a QB in September of 2003 as he is now. His flaws have been largely forgotten or glossed over, and he is regarded as one of the greats because he has the ring. Ditto for Flynn, Jay Barker, Craig Krentzel, Ken Dorsey, etc. If Jefferson remains the consistent starter and we win the National Championship, his legacy will be just that: a National Championship.

only coach in LSU history to beat Auburn, Florida and Alabama in same season - and he's done it twice; only first-year coach in SEC history to lead team to league's title game; eleven wins over coaches who have won national titles; and the only coach in LSU history to lead Tigers to three-straight top-five final rankings. Oh, he also won a NC.

What "hump" are you saying Coach Miles has to get over?

Won't happen.

JJ can be absolutely shut down. If he has one of his usual off-days, they load the box to stop our run, we lose. We need to go undefeated to win the championship, JJ can lose any game for us.

And this is the issue.

We've been spoiled recently with QBs that were wildly successful and instrumental in various ways to the program... Davey, Mauck, Russell, Flynn... they were all incredibly effective.

Then you have Jefferson, who doesn't really fall in line with any of them, and without looking it up, probably falls well behind them all on a stat-line. He's unsure, hesitant, makes bad decision, and he's incredibly inaccurate.

Simply because he has so far to go to improve his image, I don't know that a ring will leave him regarded as anything other than average at best.
