Anybody know the real story here? The guy has been such an integral part of the team for 3 years and one of my favorite players. CLM is not the type to exile someone for a single fumble (though it was quite a memorable one). Is his absence related to his previous concussion?

Lost starting job. I have been wondering the same thing. Played sparingly against A&M.

He doesn't deserve to start over Neighbors who doesn't make mistakes that Copeland continually has made throughout his career - false starts, key fumbles, personal fouls etc.

Copeland is a beast but doesn't play smart. Fumbles, penalties.

Besides the valid points made by other posters above, I suspect he might continue to exhibit some concussion symptoms, such as forgetting his assignments on certain plays.

Oh, and don't forget the occasional whiffs.

He's the offensive Anthony Johnson (in terms of performance) - flashed dominance early in his career, is talented, but hasn't lived up to the hype and has been vastly mediocre.

Factor in his continual mistakes, and Neighbors is your starter.

I have to agree. Two consecutive years, his mental mistakes made against Alabama have significantly impacted the game.

Its not just a matter of cleaner play by Neighbors. CN is simply a better blocker and receiver.
