full backs are dying
The same thing was said about the tight end position in the NFL about 10-15 years ago. That isn't the case anymore. All it takes is one offensive coach to recycle on an old fad & the position will once again become utilized. It's a copy cat league.

in 2000 which would be 15 years ago you had 6 in top 50 of receiving and 11 in top 100, doesn't seem dead still....
TE position has never been considered "dying" as they have always had great TE's to come up through teams

I still could take him in Big Cat

In the late 90's, the tight end was definitely on the down swing due to a lack of good tight ends especially as teams adopted some of the run & shoot concepts which used no tight end whatsoever.
Most of the players you probably assume fall under the title of tight end, aren't traditional tight ends with Jimmy Graham being the most well known.

After all, tight ends in the modern game aren’t even called tight ends any more. The name now has to be abridged with something else.
Modern players at the the position are now categorised as “move” tight ends, “hybrids” or even “Jokers.”

And then Tony Gonzalez happened.

Yep.That started a huge trend of trying to find that "joker" at the position. It also began the trend of trying to find the next ex basketball to star at the position. The same thing goes for fullback. All it takes is the right offensive coach to get paired with the right talent, to lead to an evolution of a position.

Good for Copeland, he definitely created some memorable plays at LSU, both good and bad.

as long as he's paying attention and doesn't do stupid dead ball personal fouls he should do very well

Just wait till defenses keep getting lighter and lighter you will see the return of the heavy run with a fullback

I will always remember him for fumbling at the goal line.
