Bilas was on Mad Dog Unleashed on Sirius XM and Chris Russo asked if the criticisms of Simmons and his perceived lack of drive are warranted. In fact, Russo specifically said you hear frustrations from LSU fans in the SiriusXM office about Simmons.

Bilas said he's not a perfect player, but the criticisms are out of hand. He mentioned Kevin Durant and their pedestrian season and tournament performance considering he played with 2 or 3 other pros at Texas. He went on to say that Simmons is the best prospect he's seen in a long time and nothing about this season has changed that in his mind. In closing, he said that it's a shame people are struggling to appreciate him because of the team woes, and Simmons should have gone to Kentucky where no one would question whether or not he is a winner and he would have been better appreciated.

While the rest of the SEC will be happy to see Simmons leave, this place can't wait to show him the door. Embarrassing.

LSU doesn't get talent like him every year and when we are hyped up by coached, scouts, analysts about how awesome Simmons is we expect him to put on a show. So LSU fans have every right to be critical. LSU used him to sell tickets and there really hasn't been much reason to go to the PMAC and watch him play honestly. Kentucky and Duke see talent like him every year.

If you think Simmons has given up on LSU, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the rest of the team.

He was never going to Kentucky he was going to Duke if he did not go to LSU. Either he or his Dad said that in an interview.

They all have given up but clearly he is here just to goof off for a year then jump to the NBA to make millions. I mean not to say he doesn't work hard, I'm sure the kid does but I really don't think he gives a shite really about LSU.

slackster, are you Simmons' godfather or something? You sure do take all this pretty hard.

I'm disgusted with the entire team, the coaches too. But Simmons did not meet up to the advance billing, and I really doubt he gives a crap about LSU or the fan base. I still remember his choice of words regarding if LSU were not to make the NCAA tourney; he'd be annoyed.

There are players out there that are devastated when they don't succeed, but he has nowhere near that level of commitment to us. I haven't seen him rise up and attempt to stave these losses off, even in a failed effort. He just cruises around out there.

Whether Kentucky was a landing place or not is irrelevant, his point is that going to a blue blood will make you more appreciated and shield you from the absurd criticisms based upon your team's failures.

Well to start, he has put on a show. But even if he didn't everything you said would still make you a prick and an a-hole for being critical of an 18 year old athlete

First off he has been in Florida. But your right he should have played pro ball and then come over for NBA.

Yep our fricking fans on this board are gonna shite on him because they are basketball illiterate and don't understand that he is being misused. The folks who think he is overrated are truly some of the dumbest sports fans I've ever interacted with. It's astounding TBH.

So what do you want the fans to do for him? Go in the court and show him how to play defense, how to shoot the ball, or how to play like he is serious? I really don't get these stupid posts. LSU fans are disappointed and they should be. Actually Simmons seems to be off the hook because LSU fans blame only Jones.

We don't want him to leave, but the truth is stupid fans thought he would put up 40 points per game and he can't do it unless he gains 30 lbs of muscle, or if doesn't has a jump shot, or a good sky hook, or can't shoot 30pts.
