against Missouri 3.2 IP 3 ER
against USCe 6.0 IP 5 ER
against Auburn 1.0 IP 2 ER
Totals 10.2 IP 10 ER 8.44 ERA last three games

How much do we trust him going into regional play? Does CPM go to the pin at the first sign of trouble?

I think it is really important for him to get another appearance this tourney and do well. It would help to regain his confidence going into regional play. Hope he can turn it around.

Edit: changed tonight's ER from 5 to 2. ERA changed to 8.44, point still the same.

Poche will be fine. He got pulled after the first and he more than likely would have settled into the game just fine. I pretty much guarantee you PM knew this and pulled him so he could have a better chance later in the tourney.

Eh, still doesn't really mean much tonight for Poche. He has been a bend don't break pitcher all year that's gets better as the game goes on. Auburn got on him mix that with an error and that's always bad news

He helped Auburn out too with the walks

He could have been pulled earlier than he was in this game and his numbers wouldn't look as bad.

Effectively, that doesn't really change anything about his performance over the last three games though.

He's a guy that must live on the corners and when his accuracy is off he gets popped. Similar to Mestepey (sp?) and other guys we've had in the past that don't throw hard

said this a month ago. He has to have his accuracy and if not it can get ugly for him

I'd throw him against the 4 seed next week. PM eluded to using him again Sunday, so that would likely mean saving him for Sunday next week too. Not sure I'd want him on the hill in a due or die. You go to Monday and anything can happen as seen before.

Jared Poche 8.44 ERA last 3 starts

Last 3 starts...this is becoming a pattern now...but I will give him the benefit of doubt about last night...that ump was squeezing the zone so tightly that he was forcing the pitchers on both teams to literally throw across the middle of the plate before he called a strike...

Poche should have been out of that inning with 0 runs given up and no walks...

As the game progressed you saw the ump starting to loosen up and call the corners...

Wasn't this his second straight start on short rest? You'd think it wouldn't hurt a control guy like Poche but maybe he's just been out of his routine.

If he can get through the 1st inning, he usually settles in nicely. That seems to be his biggest problem this season. In innings 2-6, he has looked great.
