This was aired on espn's first take shortly after LSU won the BCS title game.
quote:

The most evil thing in the world is the Rose Bowl… until somebody goes there and blows up the Rose Bowl… Remember this… the Rose Bowl… is the focus of all evil

He finished with several "I hate the rose bowl.. I hate the Rose bowl.. Hate the Rose bowl.."

Can anyone find the video or audio for this? It appears to have been erased from the Internet. If you are able to locate it TIA.

Just saw an article saying that the CFB playoff games will be on New Years eve the next two years because the Rose Bowl refuses to hold their game on any other day besides New Years.

Everyone has plans New Years Eve and might not have time to watch 6 hours of football. Hell, I worked NYE this year along with a lot of people. Just made me think of this old rant... frick the Rose bowl.

Well, then they don't watch 6 hours of football.

Sounds like a better time actually.

We would have had a playoff 30 years ago if not for all of that Doze Bowl tradition.

I almost can't pick a worse day than NYE on a weekday. I watched 0 minutes of football this NYE. People work. The first playoff game began at 4:00pm. I got off at 4:30. I would rather not have to take off work or miss the 1st half of a playoff game.

On the other hand, there is literally no better time for football that I can think of than New Year's Day.

Doesn't bother me. It only takes about 30 minutes to eat my pudding and drink my glass of rose' at the Home's annual party, and then I wheel back down the hall and watch the games.

I posted a link to the video some time ago as it was the best damn thing. He ranted on the BCS at the time, too. It was grand. I've tried to find it quite often in hopes it would pop up again. No success so far. I thought I'd found part of it a while back. I'll look for that. May have been an entire transcript, though.

Guess I'm in the minority because I've always really wanted LSU to play in the Rose Bowl. The SC thing was over a decade ago, so my PAC12 hatred has waned a bit (esp. with saban going to bama). I guess I just like the setting of the RB. Seems like it'd be a cool experience.

That was the year 3 Pete was claiming to be co-national champion with LSU. Carville was pissed. The video is a clip from the entire Rose Bowl rant. He attacked 3 Pete, the BCS, the Rose Bowl and USC for not beating Stanford at home. It was priceless. It's too bad the entire rant is gone. I watched it a gazillion times when it came out.

Rose and Sugar are both "entrenched in their [New Year's Day] spots...[as] part of [the] deal from day 1." Whatever that means. So, play the playoff bowls on 1/2. How hard is that? Those games should be after the other major bowls, anyway. Oh, that's a Saturday and the NFL has wildcard games scheduled? Screw that. Those games were shite anyway. What are they gonna do the next year when NYD is on Saturday? Or the year after when it is on Sunday?

NCAA just can't keep themselves from screwing this up. Should of just added a true "Plus 1" game, after all the other bowls. Top two bowl winners get in. You wouldn't have any scheduling issues; bowls could play whenever they wanted. You'd have more teams with a chance to get there and no BS selection committee.

I saw and heard him live and I couldn't agree with him more. Yes, I'd love to play in the Rose Bowl but he was on target.

No matter how you slice it the TV networks will always defer because of tradition. The Sugar Bowl was torn down. The Orange bowl was too. The Cotton Bowl was moved from the ghetto to AT&T madness. The Rose continues to rock on just like our Mr. Carville.. Blow it up :)

Wasn't there a "blow up the Rowe Bowl" in there, too?
