originally from Opelousas. Can he tackle? 6'3 221 with speed and good hands. sounds like a great LB.
Has Aranda noticed #32 on offense (yet)?

Frick that. Lets get him to be our Sunday pitcher.

except you can't go back to amateur status after going pro (in that sport)
if you could... that would be great

I like this kid a lot. He's a hard worker. Never leaves the facility. I'm hoping he gets a real look.

He is a walk on, so is he not allowed to?

I'm very familiar with Jalen and watched him play football, basketball, and baseball at Westminster Christian Academy. Clearly he was the best athlete on the field or court. Originally committed to Nicholls as a 2-sport athlete - FB and Baseball.
Had a low 90's fastball and the Red Sox fell in love with his work ethic, intelligence, and drafted Williams in the 16th rd. out of HS 2013.
Can he play in the SEC ? Remains to be seen but I wouldn't bet against him. As a 22 yr old FR., he's mentally mature and will come in with a chip on his shoulder to make the roster, even if it's on ST's as a "head-hunter" like Jarvis Landry was as a Freshman. Jalen will be the first to arrive at practice and the last to leave. Instead of partying at Bogies, he'll be watching game film or studying the playbook.

He's a real lunch pail kinda guy, high motor
Also lives in the film room, like having another coach on the field

No, walk ons are ok. I hear David Ortiz is going back to school and walking on this spring too.

I also have seen Jalen play a number of times, having done the radio for some of his games. He is a cousin of Devery Henderson, not as fast as Devery but a much bigger kid.
He is not your average walk on. Jalen is a very talented athlete, a bit older and more mature than your average walk in because of his stint with the Red Sox.
He was a receiver, free safety, punter and punt returner in high school. It was a 2A school and hard to judge just how good Jalen was because of the competition. He was always a man among boys on the field.
To the OP's original point, yes he can tackle. He was a two way player in high school and a ball hawking free safety. But no, I don't think he is a linebacker. That would be putting a square peg in a round hole. He is a big body, athletic receiver.
His problem at LSU is that LSU has a stable of big receivers waiting their turn to play. All things being equal, recruits get more practice time and more chances to develop than walk ons. There is this basic assumption that walk ons will never be more than practice players that they have to overcome.
Given the chance, Jalen could play at an SEC level. Unlike the lunch pail walk ons being made fun of in this thread, Jalen does not lack the athleticism of other receivers on the team, I suspect he may be more atlhletic than some. I can tell you he passes the eye test better than some, he is a big, put together, kid.
The odds are he doesn't play any meaningful downs at LSU. Once every blue moon a walk on steps up and Jalen is no Rudy. He can play.

Well he's right tbh.. TD hears a funny one liner and runs that motherfricker into the ground..
They still use the sock joke on the recruiting board and that originated back in Nam

Hell, I wish he PM can get him to throw some BP sessions this spring.

Pass kicking ability in HS......If Jalen has a good set of Gluteus Maximus muscles how about him consistently putting a kickoff deep into the endzone for our badly coached special team .
