By it's nature a run oriented offense will leave you with a lot of third and long situations. When that happens you have to have pass plays designed to get the 5 - 10 yards needed to sustain a drive. I don't see us having those type of plays.
Granted, we have not executed the few screen plays we have tried but too many other teams have plays they run successfully that we don't.
Why is the big question.

It depends on how you use a power running scheme. See my thread.

Then why did Anthony Jennings throw a check down on 3rd and 4th down 10 feet over the receivers head?

Then every damn coach in the n.f.l. is freaking stupid. Just think about that. Does bama run a spread? they are the most successful college program. All the top programs and the n.f.l. has it wrong but you got it right.

You are missing my point, Dos. Whether it's Bama or any NFL team (and they are run oriented), they have short yardage pass plays that they run in third and long situations that LSU doesn't.
How many times do you see teams complete a pass to a receiver who is open just past the marker. Then ask yourself how many times have you seen us do it ?

Yes, they've been quite successful with it this season.

you said it's schemes not personnel. I see us run the plays and routes to pick up the third down. I have seen our qb over throw, thow to the other team, skip balls, and make a wrong read. If it's scheme, then those plays aren't being run.

so, we ran those plays last year because we completed them and not this year because our qb can't complete them? We were the best 3rd down team in the country last year. What is it? we decide not to run those plays this year because we don't want to pick third downs up?

They go hand in hand. We are using AJ as if he is Mett which we all know he isn't and never expected him to be. Yet the calls are the same as last year but we don't have the QB to make the throws. You need to adjust your system to fit what you have. Play to your strengths and away from your weaknesses.

We have no identity on offense, bottom line.

Staying in the power I 95% of the game running dives into 10 man fronts and running 1 man routes is not a pro style offense. Go watch the Nfl or even bama since you brought it up and if you think our offense is anywhere near close to that than you are delusional.

I don't what percentage of 2 TE sets LSU runs during the course of the game. But I do know that in 11 games the TE's have 7 receptions...total.

If we also have 2 running backs with the 2 TE set, then there is only 1 receiver. How hard is it for a defense to defend a 1 wr set, when the TE's average less than 1 reception per game?
