It's HARD to get up for a program like EMU, and that's what we got.....

I mean let's face it. EMU doesn't have anyone excited, ten years ago good chance this game isn't even on TV. I didn't love the way our D or BH performed and I wish they both had bigger days but I'm quite frankly not concerned that much about Saturday.
THIS week, in an SEC road game, against a team with nothing to lose, will be a better measuring stick for how far this team can actually go than EMU at home. I know their team is a mess but it still has a good amount of SEC talent and a few guys that are going to the next level. Many of the position battles will push and test our guys in a way that really help them grow. We are still pretty young at a lot of spots in the 2 deep.
I'm not deterred but the lackluster showing, still think this team (including BH and the D) can beat anybody anywhere anytime this season.

Getting up for the opponent wasn't the problem. The problem was lack of execution in our passing game. This was mainly due to our receivers dropping catchable passes, and our line struggling on passing downs. This has been a problem throughout the year.

I think you're right but I think that has everything to do with not being as focused all week. You practice how you play and they'll be better prepared in bigger games.
Plus they can reference this is as what happens when you get lazy. Call me a pumper if you want but lots of learning and take aways from this past Saturday, from the good and bad.

Agreed. I just hope it was the wake-up call this team needed and not a sign of what we are.

Any other top 10 program would have blown this team out the door and gone on for a 60something-7 kind of route.
But not LSU. Never LSU. And that's because our coach is so concerned about the feelings of the other team and not embarrassing these "fine young gentlemen" that he'd rather LSU look flat and uninspired than break a few kid's hearts.

I was on the field before the game and I can tell you right now we didn't have the same fire we do for SEC Games

I could see it from my living room, that's really my whole point.

I think that's a weak excuse
there were plenty times in college where i was approached with a less than desired matchup
I would just drink until she was pretty and get up for it anyway
These guys need to be more dedicated

Does that explain why we're not up for SEC games? Arkansas 2014, ole miss 2013 just to name a few....
It's a hallmark of les miles teams to have a few important games of the year they're not "up for".
And it would be different if it was one time and he kicked their arse into shape. It happens nearly every single year, sometimes twice a year.

Well all these supposed wanna be NFL players better wake up, because if they want to be pro or even all Americans, you show up every game. They want to be pros but there are no easy games in the pro level. There is no EMU. You show up every week or you get beat.

You mean like with Arkansas last season?

Not many top ten teams are doing what you are claiming. Lots of close, wtf, games this year.

If you can't get up then you can't execute

Let me guess you were an all American athlete?

Leonard Fournette was the ONLY Tiger that showed up to play. He said in the Advocate that players were "laughing and joking" about playing EMU. Dumb. Les Miles' LSU teams play down to the level of competition and think that they can just show up and win while playing flat. We lack discipline.
Les Miles is a GREAT recruiter and a GREAT friend, but he ain't no coach. LSU wins despite ourselves. Our great RAW TALENT can overcome our poor coaching. Imagine what we could do with someone who can really coach!
