Davis, the head coach in waiting at Lamar, welcomes in his alma mater and former employer to Vincent-Beck Stadium in Beaumont, Texas, for a 6 p.m. game Wednesday, reuniting him with 34 players that nearly one month ago addressed him as “Coach.”

“It’s going to be a weird night,” said Davis, the former LSU player and 10-year member of Paul Mainieri’s staff. “I’m not going to try to act like it’s not.”

He’s hosting an official visit Wednesday afternoon. He’ll sell this program, soon to be his program, leading into a game against the school where he got his beginning.

The game’s been sold out for months, and hopes to break a school attendance record and has been a conversation-starter with just about every Texan Davis has encountered.

“It’s a no-brainer,” he says. “Probably the best atmosphere we’ll ever have.”

Should be interesting. My aunt told me the game was sold out over there which was usually unheard of.

Wouldn't surprise me. A ton of fresh faces in their first collegiate road game. Though Bain should be solid. I think as long as Mainieri lets Bain pitch like he's a starter and doesn't pull him after 3-4 innings to pitch by committee LSU should be fine imo.

Seeing how this is Bain's first appearance since going through shoulder surgery last fall it wouldn't surprise me if his pitch count tonight is less than it would be otherwise.

I don't know for sure but probably similar to what he have in Baton Rouge.

I would google today's weather forecast for Beaumont, Texas, but I don't have internet access.....

I live in the Beaumont area and a lot of Lamar fans seem to think they have a very good chance at winning.

Lamar is 4-0 including a win over #23 Arizona by a score of 13-5 on Monday night so I'd say their confidence is probably warranted.

for some reason I pay attention to your posts.

I think it's because you seem level headed in your past posts. but, I agree with you that lamar has at least a 50/50 chance of winning and they are so fired up at meeting us at home that it wouldn't surprise me at all if they win.

keep up the good posts.
