Jones is only here because of his connections. His prior record would not warrant his job at LSU.

His positives as LSU coach:
1. Better than Johnson ( not really a compliment )
2. Done okay in a weak SEC
3. Made an NCAA and NIT with quick bow outs
4. Recruited a few good players and lucked into Simmons

Negatives:
1. Poor OOC scheduling
2. Recruiting lacks quality depth and the number of 3 and 4 year players needed to build a program.
3. No one discernible coaching strength. Poorly prepared teams too often. Out coached too often. Appearance of being over his head (granted this is subjective, but hard to dismiss out of hand).
4. Too many blow outs on the wrong end of them.
5. Team lacks killer instinct when in the lead.
6. Lost the fans. I go to all the home games. It is pathetic. Last year had okay attendance, but a one off based on Simmons.
7. Teams are generally poor defensively and often get out rebounded. We lack toughness and fire. Effort is too erratic. This is the foundation of a good team!

If the team doesn't make the NCAA (unlikely to happen), we need to find a top notch coach (if we're serious and want to pay for one). Otherwise, we'll continue to muddle along and be mired in mediocrity or worse.
