I keep reading people defend this loss and attach everyone that is upset. People keep saying something along the lines of "it's just one game", "some of y'all are miserable", "MSU is good this year", "injuries....", "did y'all really expect to go undefeated",...

Yes, it is just one game, we have a lack of depth and experience, MSU does look to be a good team this year, no one expected to go undefeated, some are actually miserable.

BUT

We are loaded with talented players regardless of youth, they are very talented. We have always had a problem with developing QBs so the youth argument is ok there, but he is a senior. The youth argument doesn't hold up at ANY defensive position, we have never failed to develop there.

We didn't just lose that game, we got dominated and embarrassed. I don't think anyone was expecting to go undefeated, but no one was expecting to get humiliated like that either. There is absolutely no defending the way we played (or lack thereof). Our punter had more yards than our offense did, process that!

Our secondary was giving every ball carrier / receiver 5 yards of space to make their first (and second) move instead of attacking them, just giving up yards like they were playing scared or avoiding contact.

It wasn't just a lack of discipline, with exception of a small few our players didn't look like they cared. Do not take this as I want Miles back, which has been the canned rebuttal everyone keeps throwing out there. I like(d) Miles but was completely onboard with it being his time to go. But we have almost never , in the past decade, played with a complete lack of heart like we did Saturday. Our previous teams would run through a wall for Miles (and often the running backs did), I don't see the same "want" to make O proud. If you don't see that then you are blind. It is almost like this team was / is never going to be his team. We have to wait and see how they bounce back. For all of his faults Miles would have never allowed that time to expire with timeouts left and just given up. Hell, our previous teams would have never just stood around on the field while it expired, they would have got to the line, got set, and played like they were still in it. That is very telling!!!!!!!

"One team, One heartbeat" is just words with this group of guys, they do not play as a team. That is the lack of discipline that causes penalties and large chunks of yards given up. THAT falls squarely on the CEO of a company, and in the case CEO himself.

TL:DR; cut this "one game, you were expecting to go undefeated, youth,..." bullshite. We played with no heart and got embarrassed for it. We seem to have a group (and coaching staff) of individuals and not a team, and that blame goes primarily to the head of the team and is shared by all.

Not on the offensive line, we aren't. I thought it was a little bit of Chicken Littleism about the depth - I think the players we have are SEC quality players, but if a team's best tackle is KJ Malone and best guard is Garrett Brumfield, that team is in trouble with our schedule. Those are good players. I like all our players. Those are even starting quality players, but being our "best" OL means the line is pretty weak right now.

It showed on Saturday. I think the defense can be chalked up to injuries, suspensions, youth, hostile environment - a perfect storm and I think Aranda has an easier fix on that side.

But, what has to be done on offense can't be fixed quickly, IMHO. We need 2 or 3 years of high quality, high volume recruiting of OL just as step one. Our running game is going to collapse next year and we just don't have the personnel to pass it 40 times a game and compete in our division, again, IMHO.

The Saban-Miles top 10/top 15 dynasty over the past 16 years is dead.

I agree...sad few years are to come.

No heart, no fight, no physicality.

Thanks Joe. ??

The Fact is, the players on this defense are either young or not that talented.

The most talented players (minus Key) are Freshman and Sophmores starting for the first time. - YOUNG

of all the 5th year Srs and Juniors playing at LB, Safety, and DL, did any of them CHOOSE to come back over the NFL? No, they did not. These guys just arent that talented. Plain and simple. - NOT THAT TALENTED

Think I've heard this tiring ole saying every year about Miles' talented team, his "damn-strong" team, Coaching has all to do with it. Canada has now been welcomed to the SEC.

The team quit. Early. And it's only three games into the season. First fricking road game against an SEC opponent and they gave up halfway through the game.

That's what shocked me the most, and that's why I have little faith in the ability of the current coaching staff to turn things around.

I never thought I'd dislike an AD more than I disliked Joe Dean, but damn Alleva is getting there.

Player attitudes reflect the internal atmosphere of the program.

The players have no discipline... tops in the SEC in penalties. 2 ejections in the first game we played against a team with a pulse, a team that shoved it right up our asses.

Where are the players getting that lack of discipline and respect from?
Well, let's look at the coaching staff. We as fans clearly see the strange dynamics. It's understood, even touted, that the coordinators do whatever they want. Head coach is not involved or running things; he stated in the postgame show that he didn't know why our 1st Team All American RB was sitting on the bench, after having 70 yds in the 1st half.

Things don't run well that way in the real world.
