sorry dude, i grew watching the Chris Jackson, Shaq era. lsu was a national program at that time and that is what we should aspire to be at lsu, a top 25 program year in and year out, being relevant and exciting would work well enough for me. in the late 80s/early 90s, the PMAC was always full.
And WTF do we, as a program, have to show for those "glory days?"
From 1955-1991 we had FOUR conference champions. FOUR. Our Glory era consists of making the Final Four twice between 1981-1986. We did make the NCAA Tournament every year between 1984-1993, but is that really something to stick your chest out about? For 9 straight years we were one of the 64 best teams in the country?
That is pathetic and you people who have some distorted view of our history as a basketball program really need to wake up. We have never been a basketball school. Ever. Sure we've had ups and downs, but my point is our "ups" were never that amazing to begin with.
This is the problem with our basketball fanbase. You think we are entitled to some great measure of success and that all the national champion coaches would love to come coach here. That just isn't reality. Sorry.
