How did they keep that Auburn TD on the board where Jereny Johnson seemed to clearly have thrown the ball past the line of scrimmage?

I was at the game so it's possible I'm incorrect

Per the rule it was the correct call. The whole body has to be across. His foot was on the line.

However, they clearly missed linemen down the field. Should have been a penalty anyway.

They said his back foot was still behind the line, I guess. I have not seen a replay.

Apparently the rule is that unless the QB's entire body is across the line it's a legal pass. Johnson's back foot was still behind the line when he threw it. I don't understand why it's not the ball but the call was technically correct. What was even worse was that the center was 5-6 yards downfield when he threw it and they just ignored it.

whole body has to be past the LOS. his left ankle was still behind the line so it was a legal pass. linemen were 5 yards downfield on the play though and was not called.

You are not incorrect, the shadow of his dragging foot was close to maybe not being completely past the line of scrimmage.

if any part of ur body is behind the line still ur good. Have to be fully across. Same case with Kelly's TD pass in the Ole miss Bama game.

Well it was very close....His back foot was in the air and it looked like his toe may have been on the line......If it would have been called the other way on the field, that would have stood...Not enough to overturn it..

Biggest thing to me was that it was a clear penalty on illegal lineman downfield...the entire line..

Apparently, the entire playermust be over the line. QB's left shoelace hadn't crossed yet.
The bigger blown call was their entire OL too far downfield.

All of this. Ole Miss got away with the exact same thing against Bama last night.

The rule is that if ANY part of the QB's body is not over the line then it's legal. On that play it appeared that every millimeter of his body was over the line, but it could be that his toe wasn't, so they couldn't overturn it. He was about a yard past the line, though.

Funny thing was that the same thing happened in the Bama game. This time the QB was clearly still on/behind the line. Refs ruled illegal, but were overturned.

On both plays there were lineman five yards downfield.

His foot was trailing. The issue with the play was you had linemen 4-5 yards downfield blocking. White left his assignment with 82 along with everyone else on that side of the field which they should have done. The refs just missed the call.

The D had no business letting Auburn get that far downfid to begin with though. They have two games where they fell off in the second half, so corrections need to be made on that side of the ball over the next few weeks.

Correct. I'll bet that gets changed next year. It's a terrible rule.

Evidently, it's like a first baseman keeping his foot on the bag. As long as one part of the QB's body is on (or hovering above) the LOS, it's a good play. They should change the rule to where the ball is in relation to the LOS.

Idk how they get away with that play with o linemen clearly 5 yards downfield blocking linebackers. College football definitely needs to fix that because it's downright illegal and it's going to happen more often...

that never gets called these days with the spread option/rollout play action/read plays

ole miss did it a bunch to bama last night, too

it's not going to be called the old way until they make it a note of emphasis one offseason

this will be Saban's mission, unless he calls it quits after the season, he hates this type of football

Well I'm pretty young myself, and the first time I saw it happen was that crucial td in the bama-auburn 2013 game.

saban has been stomping his feet for like 4-5 years about the spread option and nothing's been done except more proliferation/development

i mean texas won a national title running that offense 10 years ago, and it wasn't new when they won it. people still treat it like some oddity/gimmick when that style of offense has won multiple national titles and countless conference titles.
