I have never and will never turn my back on the Tigers but I think last night they may have shown their true colors.

As fans we were very excited and the season looked bright after we beat Auburn. The same Auburn that squeaked by UT and lost to a down Arkansas. Our victory over them does not look so impressive now.

Not to mention the fact the Gators manhandled LSU in all areas. We even caught a break on that kick that was NOT out of bounds(I don't get that ruling).

Let's take off our BCS championship goggles and realize we are just not that stellar this year. Our "stud defense" gave up 51. 2009...now that should be a different story. Until then, I hope for the best as we face SC, UGA, and Bama over the next few weeks.

Since Miles and, especially, Crowton, have come aboard, our offenses have been getting better. However, since Saban and Muschamp left and we brought aboard Pelini and his two chimps, our defenses have been getting worse. I don't think they're as bad as the pre-Muschamp Texas defenses, but that's where they're headed, IMO.

Guys this was just one game. Yeah we got spanked and our weaknesses showed. Lets see if the players and coaches show up for the rest of the season before we go into a meltdown.

because of a poor game...and Fla played perfect....
nope....one game does not make a season.....nor show a teams true colors....

Not the end of the world. Win out, meet Fla in the SEC, win there and maybe play for a NC....

true colors...no, their true colors will show up in the future on how they took this one loss...there are only about 10 undefeated teams in the USA. Bama will lose, Texas will lose. By strength of schedule, IF LSU wins out, and that is when, again, I think LSU will show their true colors.....too soon to tell now....

Freshman QB, Freshmen on Defense.....inexperience....where is the team leaders-ship? True colors are coming...too soon to tell now......

Well we've beaten App State, a horrible Mistake team, a horrible Auburn team and possibly the worst team in the nation in N. Texas, but I didn't the we were bad enough to get mauled like we did.

3 turnovers that cost us big time. Florida got all the breaks--these games happen, we'll come back stronger and hopefully meet the gators again. IMO we still go 11-1. Florida was the best team we meet this year. I've watched Bama and Georgia and think we beat them both.

Neither. You could see our team's (from the head coach on down)confidence gradually evolve into arrogance. I think this will serve as nothing more than a much needed slap to the face.

After thinking about it for a couple days, I think this situation is just like Georgia in '04. In '04 Georgia's main focus seemed to be to beat LSU. They got extremely high for LSU and put a lot of emphasis on that one game. They played very well then but later dropped a couple of games they probably should have won.

Florida seems to have done the same thing. They have been getting ready for that game ever since they left Tiger Stadium. They lost to Ole Miss and played fairly half-assed against Arkansas but then came in sky high for LSU. Florida may be better but they ARE NOT 30 points better than LSU.

Now, I don't think we are a top 5 team, but we are better than we showed the other night. I know its been said more times than can be counted but we better do something about the defense fast or this team will end up with a record far below thier potential.

We played a below average game, and Florida came out and played their best possible game. Everything that they tried was working, and they effectively turned the line play completely around making it their strength instead of ours.

It reminded me of the Va Tech game last year. We were at our absolute best trying to prove something and with a small amount of payback from five years earlier and it just all clicked for one night. That game was a big tie-breaker in late season arguments for us, and barring a rematch, could be for Florida this year. Danielson was right on the broadcast too, they figured out a good way to run their offense and not many people have the players and scheme to stop it, we sure didn't.

All of that wasn't on our Defense. Our offense failed to capitalize several times due to Lee missing the open receiver, dropped balls, etc... Mostly due to Lee's inexperience, but he'll get better. And Florida is an excellent team who was prepared and hungry for this one. FLorida will be even better next year.

I think it is a combination of both. Florida played better than expected and LSU has a struggling defense and a freshmen QB. There is a lot of talent on the LSU team and they will do ok this year but they lack experience in some key positions.

LSU's season has been strange with the game cancellation and the way the bye week fell. LSU has not had the opportunity to get into a rhythm in my opinion.

Here are the weaknesses I saw on Saturday:

Physicality...we were out-hit, badly. We need to get meaner at the point of attack.
DB's...burned, out of position
LB's...hit no one unless they had gained 15 yards and then gloated over them...ridiculous.
D-line - not the dominant force we thought...
O-line - oops...
QB - young
Defensive scheme appears poorly constructed.

We are young, and it appears, as last year have some discipline problems, but do not have the experience to overcome these things.

I hope this improves, but it could be a long season.

I think everyone has been high on the fumes of last year's NC. I think this loss will be the equivalent of hitting the "Reset Button" for our expectations. Welcome back to reality all of you with rose colored glasses. (BTW - me too). We still have lots of talent and lots of potential but the answer is probably a little of both. Florida is very good, especially at home, when they're pissed off and its a big game.
We had two weeks to prepare for Florida + Les is usually very good after a bye and very good in big games = thats all we got. That was our best. We were exposed. It sucks.

Quarterback is an important position, right? We do not have an SEC caliber QB on our team right now. Lee may grow into one. JJ may grow into one. Hatch will not. Our offense puts our defense in a lot of bad situations by missing WIDE OPEN receivers, making costly turnovers and silly penalties. Most of these problems center on our QB. If we can't fix the QB position we will be fighting an uphill battle. Having said that, our defense, for all its hype, appears to be a bunch of big, fast football players that do not play defense very well. Call it missed assignments, call if poor tackling or call it lack of motivation. Whatever it is it is making a potentially good defense look very bad.

I hope the coaching staff can right the ship. It's a tough job, but they get paid a lot of money. Fix it.
