Is this the first year you 100% expect to win the NC?

In the past I have always expected us to contend and at least come close.

This is the first year I expect to outright win it. We return most of starters, have talent and depth at all positions, and have an easier schedule than last year. It looks like we will finally have some consistency and stability at QB. Plus, I'm sure the NC game left a very sour taste in the team's mouth which they can only get rid of by redeeming themselves with a crystal trophy.

Anybody else feel the same?

I think I predicted 11-2 or 12-2 last year before the season started

This year it's BCS title or bust

Yes, agreed. I knew we'd be good last year but I didnt "expect" a NC. This year I expect it.

PS We are stacked for the future as well so I expect 2 NC's in the next 4-5 years IMHO FWIW

I don't know how anyone can expect to win a National title.

I am a very optimistic person but considering...

1. First year QB
2. SEC schedule
3. Teams will be gunning for us

I don't think it is something we should expect. I only expect to contend.

Yes, last year was a very pleasent surprise.

This year it would be a disappointment not to win it all.

How do you figure? You probably thought after JJ's freshman year and bowl game he was the answer as well. Time will tell. If Mett is everything he's hyped up to be, we could be very dangerous. It takes a lot to run the table and win a championship. I think our odds are good, but expecting it is setting yourself up for dissapointment and not fair to the program.

1 First year qb that can play dead and still be more productive than JJ.

2 We marched through the SEC last year with a middle school qb.

3 Teams are always gunning for us. Nothing new.

1. First year QB

Not a negative considering the last several BCSNCG champions were quaterbacked by a first year starters, it's not like he's a true freshman.

2. SEC schedule

True but a much more favorable schedule overall when compared to last year.

whiskey is wet.

I don't think they will be gunning for us anymore than they were last season.

This should be a better and more complete team than last season with more big game experience than any team in the country.

No reason to count LSU out.

whereas we return MOST starters, we lost some HUGE contributors. losing randal, brockers and claiborne will be felt.

we are going to be a damn good football team. 100% expecting to win the NC? no. too much can happen and we play some teams that can derail us. for example: alabama has just as good of a team as us and they return an experienced qb with a defense that has proven it can stop our offense.

We had JL and JJ last year and relied primarily on a great running game. Mett has all the talent but still HASN'T played against an SEC defense.

Fans are gonna get mad at you calling JL a middle school QB.It is hard enough to do it once but back to back years even harder.

I think anyone would agree that both qbs were given a middle school type passing scheme and coaches were more like babysitters. We don't remember what it's like to have a decent qb. With an average passing attack(top 50) we could be incredible. Also, the title didn't say guarantee; it said expect.

I am not counting us out by any means.

I really don't get this much more favorable SEC schedule crap though. We add SC and A&M. Sure we get Bama at home(home field has never meant much in that series). Arky, Fla, A&M on the road. Yeh I am not really buying the much more favorable SEC schedule.

What makes anyone think that will change? I don't see us airing it out even if we had Brees as QB.

You put into words what I was thinking. I've said this before and I'll say it again winning a national title is a huge feat. Last year proved that. We had an amazing, brilliant season and the best chance to win it all in our backyard and yet we ended up what seemed like miles from our goal at the end of the the game on 1/9. Years like '11 (even w/o an NC) don't come around very often and while I'm not saying we won't win it all this year it still will be very huge challenge. Good fortune has to come our way in addition to being exceptionally good.
