The lines at concessions stands would be a lot better if they had people who can work simple math. I was at the game Saturday and ordered a bottled water, nachos and a hot dog. It was $11 and she had to use her phone calculator. I gave her a $20 bill and she had to use it again to see she needed to give me $9 back.
This is why the lines get so long
Exactly. It's not as if there is a large selection of gourmet items at the concession stand or a ton of prep-time involved. However, when you have unmotivated workers plus people who can't add/subtract trying to do so, things back up quickly. No need for more concession stands, just a need to become more efficient.
The PMAC may not be the best facility in the country, but it certainly isn't the worst. The bathrooms are fine IMO. The serve their purpose without hearding people in to piss in horse-troughs like at Tiger Stadium
As far as game atmosphere, that's on the fans to improve. The students bitch about their seats, but their attendance is inconsistent, at best. They would possibly get better seats if they showed up in force to every game. I'm sure LSU wants to see more than just a few bozos in in banana costumes show up before they put the students in "prime seats".
Objectively, Cameron Indoor at Duke is a small dump. If Duke was an avg. basketball program that area would be an outdated venue that needed to go. Instead, it's a college basketball landmark ALL because Duke has had 30+ years of great success. If LSU had that kind of success, the PMAC would be looked upon the same way.
Two relatively easy changes that could make the PMAC look more "modern" is a new scoreboard/video screen and possibly some ribbon screens around the arena

I went to hundreds of basketball games during my time at LSU (including law school). I graduated in that building twice.

What they pay the game day staff is flat out shameful.
It's right at minimum wage. That's why your service is shitty

I know little/nothing about construction, and used to think we were pretty much limited with what we had in terms of the PMAC. Then I followed the renovations that were done at UCLA on Pauley Pavillion.
They were facing a lot of the same issues that people complain about with the PMAC (narrow/outdated concourses, no luxury seating, lack of video boards, etc.). It cost them 130 mill and they had to play one season off of campus, but they completed transformed that place. It's beautiful.
Well, to be honest, the comparison of LSU's basketball facilities to UCLA's isn't exactly fair. That would be like holding Davis-Wade Stadium to the same standards of Tiger Stadium.

Oh cool. You went to law school.
If I graduated from Law School, I'd brag about it. Just saying.

As of last season in TS, they still had 1990's CRT TV's in the concourses, awful outdated bathrooms, terrible overpriced concessions...the pmac is awful, cramped uncomfortable seats, concourses are tiny, terrible bathrooms and concession lines
This. TS is so outdated and plain out crappy in the lower bowl. My tix are in SEZ and our bathroom situation is deplorable. Honestly a joke. So much could be done, even in the limited space they have.

This always bothers me a bit because of how inexpensive they would be to update.

I think basically they leave it as a frick you to the fans. Could literally do the whole stadium for under $10000

since there is only one lower level concession stand, i've never understood why they won't put one of these under the stands in the lower southwest corner.

LSU's fan experience is awful, especially considering Joe calls us "the best fans in the world"

I've yet to see how the "best fans in the world" are treated as such. I guess Joe counts raising ticket prices as treating us well.
fricking this. Aside from Alex Box, LSU's facilities are quite laughable when you consider the revenue these events bring in. If collegiate sports are supposed to coincide with their professional counterparts, football and baseball could possibly hold a candle to their respective professional cousins. The PMAC however is a complete shithole compared to any professional basketball arena I've ever been to. This facility has clearly reached it's useful purpose, and it really is time to consider a complete tear-down and rebuild. Add suites and make the concourses about 100% bigger. It's getting to be a joke. LSU can and should do better than this.
